A few months ago, I bought some Altamont Round to Square conversion grips for my N-Frame S&W 625. I feel and shoot great, but the big grips just didn't look right on the 3" barrel.

So I took those grips off and put them on my 4", 10mm 610.

I then ordered some S&W Performance Center grips. These are Altamont as well (you can tell from the markings inside). Thanks to Stainz for tipping me off to these! I think they look better on the 3" gun. What do you think?

Rolan,

Both of the changes you made hit the ball out of the park as far as I'm concerned.

they look great. the grips you have on the 4" are sweet I have a 8.325" 629 DX that came with them , very comfortable

Rolan, where on the S&W site do you go to to find those S&W Performance Center grips? I can't find them.

Thanks

P.S. Both look great, but that 3" has me drooling.

i do not think you could have done better. They both look great.

Outstanding job, Rolan. It looks like you made two very good choices. ;)

The grips are not on the S&W website. You have to call the Performance center and order them by phone. The number is 1-800-331-0852 #2905

You want to order the 'N RD WALNUT FOR PERF CENTER' grips part number #41417 0000. I think with shipping they were about $57.

I've only dry fired the gun, but it feels great. Not so much a "round to square" as a "round to rounded square-ish".

Rolan,
They look very good Sir, you done the right thing. Where did you get your PC stocks at?

Wow, Rolan - they do both look great - and 'proper' - good going!

One minor point - these are the replacement grips I put on my 2 5/8" PC627 UDRs - they aren't stock on the UDR's. The stock UDR grips are Eagle boot grips - too small for me. These #414170000 'N RD WALNUT FOR PERF CENTER' grips are for something else. Whatever they were made for, they are a bargain. Check the screw when you get them - one set I got came with a screw 3/16" too long - they corrected that. Nice grips - I shot ~200 rounds from one of my UDR's with them on it yesterday - perfect balance!

Stainz

PS A 3" 625 just looks 'right' - especially with those grips!

Wow, this gun now has a new name! THUMPER! These grips increase felt recoil MUCH more than the square conversion.

By the end of the session, they were feeling better, but that may be because I was going numb. There is a hole in the web of my hand now.

After I heal I will try it again.
