OK, so I have a 1940 Colt 44 Special SAA Pre-War/Post War wearing Ajax Stags.

Today someone here is offering some pre-war Ajax Stags for about $350.

How do I determine if mine are valuable?

I can do pictures later after I ride the Deere Mower.

I have about 3 or 4 old pair in drawers. I must be rich! I had no idea!

Do you mean that Ajax made these grips pre-war, or for pre-war Colts?

I didn't know they were that old a company.

The gun looks good, though.

Why not check the Ajax sales site and see what they are charging for similar grips? You could do an advanced Gunbroker search.

What is on the medallions on your grips? If they are Colt factory grips, they are definitely valuable. Moreso than Ajax for sure, but then $350 sounds high to me. A member sold a pair of Ajax IVORIES on here today for $300! Wish I had seen 'em first. :(
f.t.

Did Colt issue with Ajax? I know some Pre-Post War guns had factory Stags....but I doubt this is one. It is not letterable, but is one # from a SAA mentioned in Wilkerson.

Ajax made some of the best India Sambar Stag grips in its day. But not pre war. The best pre war were Pointer Grips but they used a sticker on the back which is almost always gone. Pre war Colt in house made stags were very good as well. Tyler Tru Fit weren't pre war either and weren't marked.
