Ajax stag stocks

Ajax makes a quality product. But remember, their stuff is mass produced. And like in most cases, you get what you pay for.

For a High Quality Stag grip. I would look to some individuals that also have been making nothing but stag grips for years. A specialized maker is the way to go. Google it? Look around on Forums. I'm sure you'll find someone that will make you happy.

I believe now all they have are imitation stags. The vintage stuff in Sambar was imported many years ago. I've seen some which were excellent--others not good at all. I think with Ajax you just have the evaluate the individual grip set, and not depend on just the name.

Back in the day when they used real Sambar stag it was always a few cuts below such offerings as Eagle, availability seems to come and go for everyone these days.
Those of us in the know would always choose Eagle stocks if given a choice. :) JMHO of course. If you are looking for real stag you can contact me by PM. :)

I think they look cheesy. I was going to buy a K-38 CM several years ago that was wearing them. I told Sporty, the LGS owner, that I'd buy it if he swapped out the stocks with some magnas that were in the used bin. He did, and I bought it.

I've seen some fake ivory that I liked, but still haven't seen any fake stag that I could live with.

Any grips marked '2R' on the back are from the 'new' AJAX Grip Co' formed about 2010 (?).
The original went backrupt or filed for such around 2008 or 09. Original owner was Abraham 'Jack' Rosenberg,,that's where the 'AJAX' name came from.

The new comp is run by Ral Ritter and the son of the original owner, Paul.
Ritter did post on THR (The High Road) as 2RCO, don't know if he still does.

Don't know about stag grip material, but I'd guess in this political climate, stuff like that is off limits.
The orig company had a track record all over the map when it came to quality. Don't know about this new one. But you might check with the SASS people. I'd think they'd be pretty good customers for the products w/true feedback either way.
'bout all I know...

If it's the business I'm thinking of, it was based in the Dallas area. They've been around quite a while and used to rent a good number of tables at the Dallas Market Hall gun shows. May still do it.

I believe these are Sambar.
