There's no doubt this was a terrible accident, fueled by neglect and incompetence. If Baldwin wasn't so terribly smug, arrogant and entitled he'd be in a lot better position in this situation. You reap what you sow, as they say… That said, I'm sure this experience has humbled him quite a bit. He may be a "Grade A" jerk (much stronger terms are appropriate but not used here), but he doesn't seem like an unrepentant monster.
If I'm not mistaken, he still hasn't taken responsibility for actually pulling that trigger. I'm sure that position is a chip to be used in a future criminal prosecution. Usually money solves most things in this country, and you generally get the justice that you can afford, but it looks like the prosecutor really wants criminal accountability. So it'll be interesting how this plays out.
