I got an e-mail from that sender, warning that my computer has been compromised. Haven't opened it to read how.

Has anyone else here gotten that or do you know the sender?

How can I delete it without clicking on it? I think it's probably an attempt to invade my computer with a virus, etc. ??

Yes, sounds like a malware or similar attempt. Don't open. As for how to delete, not sure on your computer. Someone will surely advise shortly.

AOL is my email server so all I have to do is click the trash can icon & the message is gone w/o me having to open it.

What e-mail software are you using?

Sometimes there's an icon where you can send it to trash. Sometimes you can hover the cursor over the e-mail, right-click, and select delete to get rid of it. Sometimes you can click a selection box next to the e-mail without opening it, then send it to trash.

It's probably not the end of the world if you open just the e-mail, but definitely don't open any attachments.

Outlook is my e-mail server, but the box to tick is filled by the e-mail sender.

Once you Delete,Move or Spam it, be sure to then empty that respective box (trash, spam etc..) also so that it is removed entirely from your mail server.

If you haven't opened it by clicking it directly, it should only be on the email server, not on or in your computer yet.

As pointed out above, there should be options to either check or highlight that specific email and remove it.
Clicking on the right hand key on your mouse while the cursor hovers over that email may offer you options too.
