Alexa, what the heck is goin on?!?

I finally got ALEXA. That is one cool broad! Mostly I just play classic country music. And Classic rock or easy listenin. But also the occasional weather forecast or time check, or answer the question that arises. Like, can a cat see in color. And yes they can see reds, greens and yellow. There's a life mystery solved.

I know I'm late to the party but I'm gonna enjoy it all the same.

As others have said, Alexa is always listening, so any conversation you have will be picked up and recorded.

That's a key reason I will not have a "smart house."

You can get on Amazon and enable "skills" for her. Similar to apps but free.
There is a Bible app that will give you the verse for the day or read whole chapters to you in about 4 different versions.
Here is what is weird. If you are reading a kindle ebook and you ask Alexa to read that book, she will pick up reading on the last page you read. Pretty amazing.

Well, yes, obviously.

Alexa was primarily developed for those of us who’d otherwise not have any conversations with females.

But the whole asking-questions thing is just a gimmick or at best a side benefit. I use my Alexas mostly to operate electronic equipment, lights, and music. So besides an occasional profanity-laden monologue, the NSA can knock themselves out listening to “Alexa, turn on bedroom”, “Alexa, turn off bathroom fan”, and “Alexa, play bluegrass”.
