Shopped at Wal-Mart today

We went to the 'big city' today, I needed socks & t-shirts so I headed into Dillards - - - large NO WEAPONS sign.
I went to Wal-Mart, used the self check out, all was well.

You know what makes me madder than hell when I go to walmart? I start out the door, no bells or alarms going off, and one of their employees stops me and asks me to look at my receipt and check my bags. I ask them if they have a search warrant and keep walking.

You should call the manager and email corporate headquarters to thank them for making your shopping choices easier with their pc nonsense.

Nothing worse than being tackled and detained by an elderly person in a wheel chair.
Flash your CCW badge and ask em if they want a trip "Down Town". :D

I once waited at the counter for 15 minutes waiting for the employee who worked in the sporting goods section. I saw two boxes of .357 for a great price and couldn't pass it up.

15 minutes went by... no employee.

So.. I called my girlfriend and had her look up Wal Marts phone number. I called the store and asked if they could send someone to the sporting goods counter because I've been waiting there for 15 minutes! Very soon after, someone appeared.. go figure.

What I've done several times when no employee is to be found, is to pick up the phone on the counter, which has an internal extension directory, and call the Customer Service Rep or whatever they're called, and summon an "associate", ASAP, to the sporting goods counter. Usually, someone incompetent and unfamiliar with the department, and without keys to the ammo cabinet shows up, but this gets the action started... Eventually, some "manager" with a cheap haircut shows up to straighten things out...

Pete, I too thought that pretty cheeky for only his 5th post :D But I'm in a giving mood and so shall not engage in any witty reparte'. Once he makes his bones he's fair game, but for now he gets the rookie benefit of the doubt. ;)

Such restraint! Bravo. Somehow though, I think the newbee will step on his diction somewhere down the line again. Ya just sometimes get this feelin,' you know!

I'm surprised though that you didn't show 'em your business in the phone book and ask if they'd like to REALLY get to know ya in court!!!

Dang Walfart!

BTW . . . during that whole affair . . . I'm glad they didn't "get your goat!":D

By now we've all seen at least a million threads complaining about walmart's stupid employees/stupid policies/stupid stupids.

They're minimum wage people and you know what to expect. So why do you get your feathers ruffled when they ruffle your feathers? It's like going to White Castle to eat and then complaining there's not enough variety on the menu.

Shop someplace else if it bugs you that much. It's not rocket science.

My WM background:

1) I don't shop there unless I have to. I will pay more to a local merchant if they have what I need.

2) I don't need rundumb cust. service. Just a honest yes or no. No ass kissing. IE >> Cajun and no DL. *** were you doing there with no DL? You should have not been driving muchless in China-Mart!

3) Best man at both of my weddings worked at WM HQ. He had to leave forever because it's went to crap since the old man died.

4) I work for a company that supplies pumps to WM. Yep when Cajun swiped his card my pumps where on the job cooling the computers that made it all go wrong or right depending how you look at it. And be very clear!!!! I take no cuff from WM. I will never kiss there arse like many vendors do!

The problem with WM now days is the CS. It's over the top! Last year I was in the photo dept. asking the help a few questions about a product. She was abreast of the product and had some answers. But we kept getting interrupted by normal WM trash. After the third time I lost it! I felt sorry for the clerk that just wanted to do her job. The cops came! And I was treated like a criminal. It was insane! The sales lady held up for me. She was in tears. I felt bad and thus flipped her a $100 bill after it was over. And I am not a rich man. But she took a beating from her trash cust. While my words were at the trash that kept forgetting or never knew what manors were/are.

next) WM gave jobs to two of my daughters as they went through college. The girls worked full time and also carried full class loads for 4 years. ( they are some strong daughters ) Was a blessing up front and a demon on the back side. When they refused to take the next step into WM brain washing and fellow employees went after them. I went after the strong arms.

Wal-Mart Sucks!!!! I only stop in now days to look for ammo. I don't buy motor oil or filters there. I did have to buy some corks there a few weeks ago because nobody in town had them. But I do stay out if I can. And I do not kiss arse concerning pumps. I've found out. Do what I say and show you. You will have no problems. Do as you want,,,, you have problems,,,,, Don't come crying to me.....

My point is as CCP holders, we are all under the microscope. Our actions will always be judge by the public in what is most likley an unfair light. As I stated, I understand your anger, we all have to deal with it in some way, and I never suggested that because we lose our temper now and then that we are not fit to have a concealed weapons permit. We all lose our temper sometimes, that's just part of life. Would I feel better if you had shown a passport rather than a CCP, no because I don't have any feelings over the matter one way or the other.

I agree, Muddy. Regardless of carry status, public emotional displays of 'Anger, disgust and displeasure' as well as contempt for those less fortunate are behaviors one might try to avoid rather than wearing as a badge of honor. But hey, that's just me... still working on my Damsel in Distress Syndrome. ;)

That's why I generally don't broadcast that I carry. When the blood is spurting from my eyes over incompetent and stonewalling behavior, I don't want them to ever even suggest I threatened them.

Besides, I have to be nice now in this small town where people know me now. That helps me out. That, and only going to the store before 9AM.

After looking at those customer pictures maybe I gotta get out more! Our walmart here aint nothing close to that freak show! We are NOT morman. However where we live I would guess 90% of the people are morman. I really think due to that, the average people here is higher moraled as a group than anywhere else. If some outfit or group were to judge the entire country by the people at the walmarts across the country, after looking at that thread of pictures of walmart shoppers, I belive a case could be made for my theory.
The people that work at the walmart here in cedar city utah are heads and shoulders above the clerks that are complained about in this thread.
We havent expericed the problems complained about. My wife is a expericed checker from other stores in california and she hasnt griped about the checkers at our walmart.
Where we live probley the wages at walmart compared to other jobs in this area are probley thought a good job.
Sure, you probley can see a few similar stupid looking immoral type if you look, but nothing like those published on that thread!

I would have to agree. Say what you will about the LDS, but they value the family and raise their children to be good, moral citizens. And one of the results is that Utah is full of nice, helpful people.

I can't imagine that happening at the sporting goods counter in their North Olmsted, Ohio store. You can't have a negative experience with a person who's not there and can't be found...

Wow. And I thought only our Wal-Mart left their sporting goods desk unmanned. I mean, I know why they have ammo - nobody is there to open up the case!

The only time I get carded at Wal-Mart is when buying paintballs. Ridiculous, IMO, since I already have the gun and they are made out of biodegradable materials that are edible (and thus not really "paint") though they taste terrible.

this is a true story. in our local wally world some years ago, i was writing a check for some purchase and they wanted a picture id. so i show them my passport. was told that wasn't proof of who i was by the manager. we had a limited discussion about that and they took the check without any further problem. apparently, word went up the line and i get a call from their district office telling me they would prefer that i use a drivers license from the state i live in. totally unreal.

Amazing. As if people are faking passports, but Driver's Licenses are 100% fine.

...Or maybe they don't even know what a passport is. *sigh*

One thing to keep in mind about "free speech" on the internet.
You are posting on a privatly owned web forum and there is no free speech.
No saying that any rules were broken... but you are only free to say what is approved by the owner of said web forum.

As an owner of a web forum I have to constantly remind people of this fact.

Thanks for your service.
