Agree with you 100%. You make a valid point and I shall keep it in mind. The venting you read in my post was mostly kept inside (save for the food stamp remark
) I wish I had another form of ID to show other than a CCP but alas I have misplaced my DL and until Monday I am unable to get another. That being said, the fact that I do have a permit does not require me to surrender to stupid nor does it prevent me from railing against it. Anger, disgust and displeasure are perfectly acceptable emotions when expressed in a civilized manner and I shall not give them up simply because I have a concealed carry permit. Would you have felt better if I had shown a passport rather than the CCP?feralmerril

Chattanoogaphil, actualy you are probley close to right! Most of the poligamists that I see drive exspendsive SUVs like escaldes etc with blacked out windows, antenenas, etc. The big gripe here is that their now jailed leader warren jeffs encouraged them to get as much welfare as they could, and since the lord was suppose to come on such and such date, to go out and buy everything they could get on time. He called it "Bleeding the beast". Well he went to jail, the lord didnt show up on that day and a lot of them are in a fix.
It does seem since he went to the cooler, that a lot of FLDS has started to dress more mainstream so outsiders wont gawk at them. Still, there are ways you can pick them out if you are local and know what to look for. Get this months national geographic. There is a good article on them.

My point is as CCP holders, we are all under the microscope. Our actions will always be judge by the public in what is most likley an unfair light. As I stated, I understand your anger, we all have to deal with it in some way, and I never suggested that because we lose our temper now and then that we are not fit to have a concealed weapons permit. We all lose our temper sometimes, that's just part of life. Would I feel better if you had shown a passport rather than a CCP, no because I don't have any feelings over the matter one way or the other.

I guess I am lucky having a third world WM to shop at. My WM is spiting distance to Mexico, about 100 feet from our border. In all honesty all the employees that I deal with are very courteous, even the ones that run to get another employee who can speak English. I bet 2out of 5 speak little or no English. Of course the Pharmacy, sporting goods and auto center personal know me by name.

Good one Caj. I once set the alarm off while leaving WalMart with two buggies full of groceries. It takes a 90 year old woman WalMart greeter a LONG damn time to go through two buggies filled with groceries!

Of course they are- most of us here are responsible... the breeders aren't and that is why they have so many kids- why not? they don't pay for em with money they earn...
this is a true story. in our local wally world some years ago, i was writing a check for some purchase and they wanted a picture id. so i show them my passport. was told that wasn't proof of who i was by the manager. we had a limited discussion about that and they took the check without any further problem. apparently, word went up the line and i get a call from their district office telling me they would prefer that i use a drivers license from the state i live in. totally unreal.

I laughed at the OP's story. Cashiers at WM or any store like it are given no discretionary powers - they follow a set of rules, otherwise they probably get fired. I admit I do go to the Walmarts along my commute to work to try to pick up ammo (when they have it) and I pay cash at the sporting goods register so I don't have to get in line behind someone with a boatload of groceries in the Express aisle (a pet peeve!)
My only reply to Caj's ordeal .......... you can't fix stupid.
Walmart's seem to be full of people that can't be fixed or otherwise explained. Having said that, I still go the local Wally World on occasion. I seem to blend right in

But I'm in a giving mood and so shall not engage in any witty reparte'. Once he makes his bones he's fair game, but for now he gets the rookie benefit of the doubt. 
It is my firm conviction that hell will look a lot like eternity in a Wal-Mart checkout line.
Every now and then I ask the cashier why they don't have an express line for men with cash. Sometimes I take the issue to the manager, but of course to no avail. That would of course make way too much sense...
