Due to the narrow grip frame finding grips for model 12s is hard.
I tried a set of pre war service grips from Thailand with a grip spacer.
The width of the service grips fills my hand and the grip spacer helps hold the gun.

I had Karl Sokol work up a Model 12 for me. He bedded some K Frame Hideout grips with an epoxy so they solidly fit on the Model 12 frame.

Inspired by that, I have protected the horns on a pair of wood grips with some felt furniture pads stacked to provide enough stability. Not beautiful closeup, but generally only I see them.

This is totally wrong! The grip frame of the Model 12 is the same thickness as the steel frame M&Ps! It is the thickness of the major portion of the frame that is thinner by .080" resulting in a gap of .040" under the "horn" of standard K-frame stocks.

The pre-magna service stocks you pictured are a good alternative, and if you want an earlier look N.C. Ordnance makes a good replica of the hard rubber stocks for early K-frames and Number 3 top-break. revolvers: Smith & Wesson No. 3 Grips, With Screw Set Installed These absolutely fit the K-frame, in spite of the fact they don't list them for the K-Frame! I have bought several sets and have them on my own Model 12s and a Model 10 snubby.

Either the G-29 or G-31 will work. The only difference is the size of the diamond surrounding the stock screw escutcheon and nut.

A second alternate is standard K-frame Magnas and then flat sand .040" off the back of them to reduce the gap under the horn. This works for either round or square butt stocks.
