Hi,
is there an alternative to Federal LP primers for .45ACP ammo?

I shoot 625-8 5" revolver chambered in .45ACP (changed springs, ...).

Federal primers are in EU hard to get and expensive as hell.

Is there an primer as soft and willing to go bang as Federal???:(

Regards,
Stefan

Some have stated that they like the winchester primers and others said Remington but they can be hard to find and very little loading data is with this primer.

CCI has a heavy material that sometimes does not work with guns that have a light firing pin strike, mainly do to weak ,worn out parts, screws that are worn or have moved or custom target guns with light pulls, set up for federal primers.

No, but Winchester would be my choice. I change my springs and have no problem with any primers. I mainly use Wolf which I bought a lot of real cheap and they are hard but go bang.

Changing your hammer (main spring) is only (usually) a 1/2 lb difference. The rebound springs make more of a lighter pull. Change your main spring back to factory and problem solved.

I will not be held hostage by a brand of Primer.:D

Use winchester primers in my 625-8 with good results; make sure the strain screw is tight. I just found that mine had backed out, causing some FTF's. I put some blue thread locker on and tightened it down.

Lets see......CCI, Winchester, Remington, Wolf to name a few. They all work in my 25-5 and all my other handguns.
Yeah but if you lighten the action like the OP.... they don't always work. Wolf, CCI and Rem are an absolute no go in my comp gun.

Winchester would be my next choice, I have the least light strikes with those. Remington is about 20-30% light strikes, Wolf is similar, never tried CCI.
