There's a name from the past. He ended up serving on the Los Angeles Sheriff's Office after show biz. He was shot at some point shot during that career, and I think that he took a medical retirement.
Speaking of knives, I carried this Kbar and Demo knife for many years in at least 10 third world countries. Both survived the adventures and now reside easy in retirement.
I was only arrested once in my life, when I was 15 and yes, beer was involved. First beer and first and last arrest (I hope!) The cop did not take kindly to the fairly sizeable Case in my pocket. Dad was not happy, but he made sure I got my knife back along with the appropriate lecture. Have always had something of the sort on me every day, even if wearing a suit and tie. Have a buck in the pocket at this moment. No more suits.
Since 1985 graduation from basic training I have had a knife in my pocket. . If I forget to put it in my pocket I usually remember before I am off my street and turn around and pick one up at the house.
We just had this discussion at deer camp last week, one of the younger kids asked "why all of us old guys carry a knife" ? Simple answer it is a tool.
but here is one I've had since 1956, it was my carry knife then
and it was carried in SCHOOL (Coral Way Elementary) to my Cub Scout meetings.
Fact is I even lost this one once, and it was found and returned to the school's office Lost & Found.
THAT would not happen today! Imagin the hissy fit in today's education environment.
Same here. I even got in trouble in Kindergarten for having one of those cheap key ring knives with the blunt nose blade, bottle opener and file on it. Learned that day to not tell anyone you had it. Another kid told on me. The teacher did give it back to me at the end of the day under the condition that I didn't bring it back...
In the courthouse or on a plane are about the only place I don't have one outside the home.
I have been carrying a knife since I was about 7 and have a few scars to prove it. Wheel, smeel, man's first real invention was the blade. I am amazed by the number of people who don't carry a decent pocket knife
