Am I being overly suspicious?

I often forget how many final and absolute authorities there are on everything under the sun. And then I browse the internet. :)

Anyway, LVSteve, I think you probably just hit a good night, or they were short staffed the last few times. It's an hour round trip for me to go to a Dominoes, that's probably a good thing for my waistline.

I love pizza. In all its wondrous varieties. NY style? Yes! Chicago style? Yes! Original Sicilian style? Yes! Made by Bubba in a backwoods cabin with half the roof missing using a barrel over a fire as an oven style? Tell me what's in it first, but probably, Yes!

Luckily, living here there is no shortage of excellent pizza places to choose from. We're famous for that. With many different styles.
Now my favorite pizza is the pizza we used to get as a kid. No fancy ingredients, just good ol' Shakey's pepperoni pizza. With those little pepperoni cups of oil on top and the cornmeal on the bottom of the crust, they were a special treat back then and every pizza since is measured against it.

Luckily there is a place in town that makes one that's pretty dang close. Bonus: the decor is pictures of all the Little League teams they sponsored over the years and the trophy's they won. They've been there since 1965, so that's a lot of teams. But, it is 25-30 minutes away and doesn't deliver to here. Papa Murphy's is an acceptable substitute and I can walk there.

I like Domino's, but we don't really have any "authentic" pizza joints here. There is one independent pizza shop called Jersey Girl. It was literally owned by a woman who moved here from NJ, and it was delicious. It's not quite as good since she sold out to a couple of her former employees, though. Still good, just not as good.

Papa John's is meh, Little Caesar's the same. Pizza Hut is a bad joke. I used to love Shakey's, but sadly they've been gone for years.

I guess online ordering is like sending a Horton Hears a Who giant type of Bat Signal skyward to get an e-mailed satisfaction survey back at you.

Well I am registered on their website, and have been for a while, but this is the first customer survey I've had. That it should happen with the improved food and staffing was what got my spidey sense going.

We used to order a lot of Dominos pizzas (kids, very busy schedules, etc.) but haven't for many years. On a whim a couple weeks ago, the wife picked up a simple pepperoni pizza from them. Worst pizza ever! Soggiest crust ever and non-existent in the center. Most of it went into the trash. The worst grocery store frozen pizza would have been better.

Golddollar, have you tried the Boboli or similar "pizza shells"? I use them and they're not bad.

Never tried those but maybe I will if I can buy them one or two at a time. I wouldn't be eating them very fast and I don't want them to go bad on me. I figured I could use the tortillas for a bunch of different things. Thanks for the suggestion.

Geography has little to do with palatability. One of the best pizzas I have ever eaten was at a bowling alley in Rantoul, Illinois.

Ruthie and the boys agree with me that, at least in our microcosm, eateries seem to be stepping up their games.

We win.
