Am I crazy? What's the largest handgun you CC??

My everyday carry is a SW40VE. I have carried a 4" .357 just to see if I could. Then I did the math - revolver =6 rounds, Sigma =14 rounds. The Sigma is flatter, more compact, has more firepower and works just like my revolver.

Well its like this my S&W 442 with some .38special Buffalo Bore ammo that goes 1040fps with the 2" Barrel puts out 379 lbs ft at the muzzle and weighs 18 ozs loaded and including a front pocket holster is my carry gun year around. This is a self defense gun and not a combat pistol so comfort is what I go for year around. If its with 10yds or closer whatever is hit with this round is going down. I shoot 130grs for practice. 158gr LSWCHP can't get no better.

I used to carry 6" N frame in a shoulder rig in cool weather . I carried my 4" N frame in a inside the waistband no problem with loose shirts . I now carry a 1911 in a Milt Sparks in a owb for all but the hottest days .

I used a homemade summer special on those days outter clothes must be light .

These folks make the original Dirty Harry shoulder rig . I have to have one , even if I don't need to pack my N frame concealed . The rig is so nice I just might buy one to wear with my jammies while watching Dirty Harry over and over .

What Holster is this and what n frame is it carrying?
Thanks

This 4" N frame carries well enough, and conceals easily under a light jacket, but a J frame sure feels a lot better to me.

I am one of those people who likes to push the envelope, just to see if I can. And yes I can, and sometimes do.:D
At a towering 5'4" and a whopping 125 pounds, I've surprised myself at what I can hide.
My carry options vary from a Model 36(2") to the Model 65,(3") the 686+(3"), the Model 29(4"), the Kimber Pro Crimson Carry II(4").
I can hide any of them, but the Model 29 isn't practical for me until I find a different holster, the grip is just too high to be able to draw it, with my short torso, the grip ends up in my armpit. Suggestions are welcome, please.
Just to prove it could be done I carried hubby's GP100(6") all day, he had no idea what I had been carrying until we got undressed at bedtime. The look on his face was priceless, as he hollered, "hey that's mine"
All of these will hide wearing just my normal jeans and sweatshirt or jeans and t-shirt. If you want to carry a large gun, it can be done. A good holster, a good belt and some determination will do it.

When the situation calls for it, I can CC a Glock 20 or a 3" 629.

I don't carry, but I have carried on a couple of occasions.

I once carried a 7 1/2" .45 Colt Blackhawk stuck down the back of my jeans, through a commercial airport and out on to the ramp, no less. Of course, this was long before 9/11 and we had not yet gone berserk with ineffectual security measures.

Big Hideouts

As a young officer when I could only afford one gun I carried a 5" Model 27 both on and off duty. Even carried it IWB. I am 6'5" and back then had lots more butt and less girth. My partner back then was carrying his 6" Python on and off duty. I have more recently carried a 4566TSW but as much as I like it, it is a little heavy and it keeps trying to pull my britches down, that would surely get my picture on "People of Wal-Mart". I keep gravitating back to something a little less bulky like my M&P 45 mid-size and Sig P220 .45 Carry Elite.

I have carried a mod 29 with a four inch barrel many times as well as a full frame .45 model 1911.

The size of a person can aid the carry of a large weapon. I am 6'3" and weigh about 250. The clothing helps cover a really big gun. However I am reluctant to carry a four inch S&W 500.

I have and continue to carry a 4" or 5" N-frame during what we laughingly call "winter" here in TX. The rest of the year, I am able to carry a Commander sized 1911.
I am 5'9" and <150 lbs, so I consider that an accomplishment.

Original Poster here!!!!

Got the 627 PC and LOVE LOVE LOVE the gun, shoots beautifully with anything 158 grain, magnum or special. . . .

I will be ordering a Kramer Scabbard in horsehide shortly, gotta recover from the revolver purchase before i order :o

Thanks Guys for helping me believe this is feasible!!

Some times I pack a 4506-1 or Sig P220. Both in pancake holsters. At one time a had a full sized M&P 40. Also packed a 4 inch M66 in a ******* shoulder rig and a full size 1911A1 in a pancake holster too.
