Am I crazy? What's the largest handgun you CC??

The largest Handgun I carry:

Well thanks to Lane Raab at CABO (Carry A Big One) it is now a piece of cake to carry my Lew Horton Mdl. 24-3 three inch barreled 44 Spcl. The Holster really keeps the Big Revolver from wobbling and is very reasonably priced. I use 200 Gr WW Silver Tips. Would use 200 Gr Gold Dots too if I could find 'em.
P.S.
I don't know Lane or give a hoot Just offering "the facts Ma'am, just the facts". Joe Friday

Used to carry both a 29-2 6.5" and various 4" Ns over the years... It can be done with the right holster and mind set...

Also look in the Dillon catalog...they have a nice 5" holster. Not sure but the Dasantis Speed Scabbard my come in 5" also. I have one for my 4" Ns and love it.

In cooler weather if I'm wearing a jacket to cover it, a 24/7 Compact 45, Sig P228, or SW9VE in a belt holster or, occasionally a PM45 in the inside jacket pocket. In warm weather, a PM45, CW9, or PF9, usually in a pocket.

I'm 5'10" 190 lbs. In the winter I pack a 6" M29-3 in a Bianchi X15 shoulder holster. During the warmer months, a Sig P220 or P229 on an inside the waistband holster or J-38 in an ankle holster.

Three and four inch frames are the biggest I sometimes carry. I have carried 6 1/2 and 8 3/8 in shoulder rigs but under heavy coats and normally after hunting and for short times running into town for something.

ORIGINAL POSTER HERE!!

Not mine in the picture, but same model. . . .

After exhausting research, and email correspondence with many holster companies, I have decided to go with Rob at Simply Rugged, he was the best about answering my questions, and modifying his pancake design to fit my expectations. I expect to take delivery in four weeks or so, I ordered last week. I also ordered a matching Real Man's Belt to go with the Holster, last time I ordered from Rob I got a Loaded Pancake for a GP-100, and the holster was excellent and I cannot wait to get this new one!

Will post a pictorial review when the Rig arrives :D

In the urban setting, a S&W 686+ with a 2 1/2 barrel. In the woods, a Ruger Alaskan in 44, 2 1/2 barrel ;)

I have carried a 6" 629 a little, but not much. The largest guns I've carried concealed with any frequency have been full-size 1911s and 4" Mountain Guns. If the Simply Rugged holster doesn't work out for you (it likely will work) take a look at Bob Mernickle's offerings. FWIW, I think you made a good decision, going with the Simply Rugged over the Galco you originally mentioned.

Shootist 1894, that is one beautiful piece.
The largest handgun I have carried comfortably is a Glock 23. I am trying to adapt to a Colt Double Eagle Combat Commander (IWB with a sturdy belt) for occasional CCW duty.
More than just the weight, I would have trouble finding a place for that long barrel.

It's not for summer days here in FL, but when it's cool enough for a jacket, my 5" 29-2 rides well & hides well in Simply Rugged's Sourdough pancake. Until I tried it I never would have believed so large a revolver could be so well concealed and so comfortable.

Its all dependent on carry method (and personal preference); with bulky winter clothes my full-size hi-cap 1911 is my hand warmer.

Colt govt model series 70 1911 IWB. It really isnt bothersome to CC all day long. Also a model 66 4" with target grips in a shoulder holster, but this only applies to the cold season, which lasts about an hour and a half here in Houston.
