Am I crazy?

What you are missing is the fact that one gun can't be perfect for everything. The 3 inch 686 357 magnum covers a lot of territory and is almost perfect for everything except deep concealed carry. That's a lot it is perfect in and would be my choice.
The solution is a pistol or revolver for the days when the 686 isn't perfect.
Guns are like shoes....you got one pair or do you have 3 or 4 pair....why ? Because one pair isn't perfect for all occasions ...right ?
After getting the 686, start saving for the deep concealment gun.
Those two guns will take care of most of your needs for now.
Besides owning only one gun is no fun...might be against some guy rule.

Are you crazy ....Didn't your mother have you tested ?

The 3" 686s are some of the sweetest Smiths to be made yet. Velocity will not be an issue if you use Buffalo Bore or Double Tap ammo. Concealability is easy with the right holster. They are a phenomenal "do-all" revolver and the 3" bbl is the best of the bunch.

Took the words right out of my mouth. IMHO, a 3" 686 plus is the best "all around" wheelgun being manufactured today.

When it comes to your carry gun, you'll probably come up with a similar answer to mine. Lots of choices for lots of reasons. As for 'crazy', if you have to ask.............

Just thought I would update this thread for anyone who wanted to see pictures of my new baby.

Interesting stocks!!! Did it come with those?

Gorgeous handgun (but I am prejudiced) - you'll never be sorry owning that machine!

Thanks! It came with a nice set of combat grips (seemingly made by the same company) but I wanted something smaller. They are Altamont Super Rosewood grips with checkering and emblem.

I have carried L frames in a Sourdough Pancake holster by Simply Rugged. They are inexpensive for a custom leather holster, but are made and carry well. Make sure you have a good quality belt that is sturdy, too. With the right belt and holster you should have no problem carrying that gun.

You did good. While I'm not a big believer in getting one gun that "is supposed to be for everything", I do believe that a mid framed 3", 357 mag is about as close as you can get to that purpose. Looks like you got yourself a beauty too!
