Hi all !
Today, I've been very lucky ! I found a pretty model 13-2, which was sold with combat grips, its magna grips and Hogue grips. Plus a holster. Got it for $275 OTD...

Here is a poor picture. Don't know yet about SN... And our laws oblige me to wait at least six months to get it home. But I'll be patient !

Great deal....six months is quite a cooling off period....are they hoping you'll forget about it?

Beautiful Model 13! ... great price, ....horrible wait.

Thanks for posting and I hope you are patient.

Thank you all !

In fact, it is a M13-1. The seller says that the SN is 29064, but the book says nothing about this kind of number without a letter. Shouldn'it begin with something like DXXXXXX or 2DXXXXXXX ?

Our laws ? Yes, you're right, M28, they might be hoping that we forget we wanted a dangerous weapon !

In fact, it lasts much longer than that. First we go into a club. Then we practice six months, then we may ask for the OK of the club's president and the league. Then, with this ok, we can ask to the public power. The authorization of buying a gun may arrive in 2 months, but sometimes, it is 13 months...

Once in a club, for the next gun, we only have to ask the president and the league for their ok, but still from 2 to 13 months to wait...

In Pennsylvania you walk in to a gun shop pick out your gun get instant background check walk out 40 minutes later. God bless the USA!

Now that I made you sad. that is a very nice gun at a really good price. It will be worth the wait. Congratulations.

40 minutes ! Where is the pleasure of the waiting ?!!

The seller gave me what seems to be a good SN : 3D15439. Does anyone has a better SCSW than mine ? I can't find any information from this number. It can't be from 1978/1979, the 13-1 stopped being manufactured in 1977, for all I know...

Any idea ?

In Arkansas I lay down my drivers license and concealed carry permit and fill out the form and walk out 5 minutes later with the gun.

Six months?!! Man, you guys can lose a couple of wars in that time!
Not to lose them, we may at least use shotguns and rifles : they are nearly free to buy and own (depends on the caliber and other details)... Hand guns are more disturbing governments here in Europe (except for Switzerland).

Still any idea for the dob of my 13-1 ? (SN : 3D15439)

I can't help you with the serial number and date but since there are only five digits following the "roving" D, what you are seeing in SCSW probably does not apply. (All the numbers shown there have six digits following the roving D.)

In any case, that looks like a very nice revolver you have purchased. Have them store it carefully for you - six months is a long time!

Let us know how you like it when you are able to begin using it. And, yes - you are lucky!

Philback,

Here in Texas I can purchase the gun, wait for instant check, take possession of the gun in less time than it takes for the ink to dry on the check..

I will agree with you that the joy is in the quest, there ain't that much joy in six months.

I do love the wines of France, I am especially fond of Muscadet, Sevre & Maine, Duchesse de Bretagne 2007 from the Loire Valley.

Finally, I believe your Model 13 was shipped in the latter part of 1970.

Hope this helps.

Yep, I think you got a very good deal on that one. Here in Virginia, there is supposed to be an "instant check" also but many of us are always put on a hold for hours to days. I have this done to me every time I buy a gun and I have had a CHP for many years and was a LEO for years in this state...The CHP serving as your "instant check" makes a lot of sense...But, 6 months!!! That IS ridiculous! You laws need some major revision!

Here in California you have to go through everything just short of a postrate exam for the priveledge to wait ten days for a gun. Two hours away in Nevada I gave my brother a Victory model S&W. He walked outa the store in ten minutes with the gun. A few blocks away were the legal houses of fun repute. Open 24 hours (so I'm told!). In downtown Carson City there's legal gambling. You can drink and gamble 24 hours a day and I think you can buy machine guns! Everything is legal in Nevada! My wife sounded receptive to idea of moving there.

Yes, of course, but I think that if something changes, that will be in the worst way : they will ban nearly every weapon, juste like in England...
