Of course I don't have any actual numbers, but based on the volume of threads here the Shield 45 is selling like hotcakes.

I don't think it's unreasonable to assume a 1,000 to 1 ratio. For every 1,000 guns sold there is one thread on here. Yes, I'm making that up, but it's one way to guess at sales.

At this rate they will sell a million Shield 45s faster than they hit a million with the other two combined.

It seems to fit NEED for many shooters. Big wallop in a easy to carry package.

Demand will dictate the supply.

I just watched a Hickock45 review on this one. Pay close attention when he shoots the 100 yard gong with it. The fact that he's even able to hit the gong with it is pretty amazing. The bullet is moving so slow by the time it gets there, that you can actually see the massive amount of drop. It looks like somebody just tossed it over by hand.

Saw that too. He has a dream job, hats off to him. I will be looking to dry fire on at my LGS today if they are in stock.

I saw the bullets also. Pretty amazing. He makes me mad, (not really), just threw it up and hit the gong. I probably couldn't see it from that distance. :-)

I would like to have a shield 45, but I would like to have a full size one also. But fixed income means it will be a while before that happens.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

They're flying off the shelf here. The LGS I got mine from had 5. I got the first one, the other 4 were gone within three days, all non safety models. They're waiting on the next shipment and hoping to get a few with the safety. I think S&W hit one outta the park with the 45 Shield. The biggest problem is the lack of availability of extra mags. Holsters are covered pretty well, as the 45 fits most leather made for the 9 and 40. Great little guns!

The one I bought set on the shelf for a week, then I finally bought it. I was surprised when I went back to pick it up that it was still there. It was the only one that he has been able to get.

I've had the 9mm Shield for about a year and it's been my main cool weather carry gun since I got it.
After the 45 was introduced I figured I needed to check it out. I read all the reviews that I could find and watched hickock's review. Overwhelmingly positive reviews.
I finally got to fondle one today at the Charlotte gun show. The trigger is really very good, a lot better than the stock trigger of my 9mm Sheild. That one was was bad enough that I put an Apex sear and springs in it.
The gun's overall feel was so close to my 9mm that I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference unless I held them at the same time.
It took me only a minute or two to fork over the cash and take it home. $429 + tax.
I haven't stripped yet and cleaned it yet but will do that very soon. Looking forward to doing some shooting.

Folks want the best handgun cartridge for self defense

Seems reasonable to me.

That's to be expected considering how recent the release was. I'm sure it won't be long before extra mags are available.

I attempted to delay buying my 9mm Shield until extra 8 round mags were available but, I found one on sale at a LGS and just couldn't wait anymore. It was about 3 or 4 months later that I was able to find the extra mag in stock.

My experience has been that if you have the opportunity to shoot one of these new Shields, it will become popular with you too! I have found nothing about them that is not to like ...

Our local pistol range up the road, rents guns and usually has a pretty good selection. I'll have to call and see if he has one in stock.

Hickok rings that gong.....

He was testing several 2" pocket (hand sized) pistols and was ringing the gong with them. I wish I could just get a good group at 10 yards with my DAO carry guns.:)
