Amazon Problems

There's so much to unpack for me in this thread....First off, Amazon is a great source for stuff not readily found and often at a great price (I'm wearing a watch I just bought I otherwise would not have been able to find afford), second all of these businesses who set up online sales and deliveries are a blessing to many people who need help due to infirmities and other things HOWEVER it worries me that we are becoming too dependent on these companies/services. What's going to happen if they suddenly cease? Or become horribly unaffordable? Yes, I know, "Doom and Gloom". Most of you are older than I and grew up with little or not much. I certainly didn't have a lot either. I just want to er (sp?) on the side of caution when it comes to relying on these do it all companies. Done now. Sorry for the downer.

I haven't had any issues with Amazon, I won't buy a Prime membership, I rarely pay any freight cost as I am usually not in a big hurry for my stuff. Now they have been a little slow this Christmas season on gifts I ordered to have shipped direct to my West coast family, but it appears that they will arrive before Xmas.
Keep on buying folks, my Amazon stock has been doing very well.

Unless it is something I have a use for and need quickly I just add it to my cart and let it sit there, or I put it in "save for later".

It's amazing just how many things get weeded out from the cart or "save for later"...

It just helps with the "I want one of those" impulse buys...

I kind of look at Amazon as a modern, on-line version of the old analog Sears - Anything you can think of available, delivered to your door. Sears, you browsed a 1000 page printed catalog. Amazon a website.

Larry
But can you use that "modern on-line version" in the outhouse? :D

I have mixed feelings about am@zon , but i order so much stuff off of them they claim me as a dependent ...
I was working on my truck a couple weeks ago and ran into a snag..Went in the house and ordered a part and Am@zon had it on my front step the next day , that was nice considering i couldn't drive to the parts store .
On a neg. note i have bought stuff off am. and noticed it was way cheaper the next day after i ordered it , but am.'s return policy is so liberal you can return things even though a hassle..
One thing of have noticed like on a black friday red tag sale ,if you google that item you will find that their "Red Tag" sale is sometimes actually the going price at other stores , so it pays to check it out .
Bottom line for me , I can order a 97 cent dental floss and some dude is going to sit it on my front step the next day shipping free (other that annual prime paymen) ..

As someone stated...Amazon is the online equivalent of the old Monky Wards/Sears Roebuck. They failed when they didn't keep up to date. If Amaxon goes bust there will be a conglomerate there to pick up the pieces... Think...at one time you could get a Mail Order Bride...and then a mail order house. Maybe one not as pretty as the other but they both worked out. ...And this will morph into something else one day I'll bet.
And as far as can I use the online version in the out house...yep.... I'll just order the TP....AND as for reading material...I'll just use my phone....Dark in some a them outhouses, you know?

My thinking is that Amazon is being subsidized by the Govt. and in the future local stores will be extinct. One place to buy and one way to pay. Larry

Why I shop on Amazon and other online merchants:
No place local sells my hair care products.
No place local sells my preferred makeup & skin care & perfume
No place local sells the printer paper for my old printer at the shop
No place local sells guitar strings
No place local sells some of my favorite seasonings and food products
No place local sells books
Clothing choices are limited to Walmart or high priced boutique shops locally

If I were to eschew product and services from those who don't align with me I would have little to eat, read, watch, listen to, drive, wear, drink, and so on and so on.

Put me down as a well satisfied Amazon customer.

A company can claim support for things I am against. But Amazon not only promotes those things, but they FUND them in large quantities of $$$.

Bezos not only did that but lied about when it came to light. He & Zuckerburg are blights on humanity.

YMMV.

Bobsguns...did you ever sell a Chinese SKS or any comblock made firearm?? Not dissing you or anyone here..just being realistic...somethings are impossible to get away from...Amazon seems to be one of them. I grew up in an anti Japanese society...And they make some very good guns...and they are Anti gun

Sold SKS'? Heck son, I BOUGHT one back in the day. :D

The Chinese people have no options in how they live. Their Govt lays out their entire adult life out for them, IMO. Nor is China working inside the USA to get the 2nd Amendment banned. Amazon IS.

That's were *I* see the difference. I also go back to them treating their warehouse employees like garbage. I refuse to support a company that treats people like that.

YMMV.

I don't disagree with you, but there are BETTER options than Amazon. I use them myself.

Well, to be fair, you DO live in Iowa. So, there's that............ :D

Amazon Prime needs to change its name to Coach Prime. It use to run like an All Pro NFL Corner Back. Now it runs like an old guy with a couple of toes missing.

If you are so worried about how Amazon treats their warehouse workers, what about the meat you eat? Packing house workers were ORDERED to work all through covid. Immigrants legal and not legal work in dangerous conditions every day in the meat processing business.

Amazon treats their warehouse employees like garbage. That alone ensures me I'll NEVER use them for anything.

Bezos' antics in the 2020 election & how he LIED about it means that I wish famine & pestilence upon them.

Amazon is also strongly anti-gun.

So, congrats to all you gun owners for supporting one of THE most anti-gun companies known in America. :(

That seems to be the feeling by people that have no clue. My son was a warehouse worker and he loved it there. They have good benefits and advancement is unlimited if you are a hard worker (that leaves out gen x gen z, etc.)

The last company I worked for had an awesome management structure, high wages and everyone in the plant was listen to. Yet, the general feeling among the rank and file was the company was ****. (more gen x idiots)

As far as gun hating companies, if you won't do business from them you just won't do business. Anyone belong to AARP? Horrible outfit.
