OK I did a search for Ambidextrous Bolt Release and came up with nothing. My question is has anyone used either of these and how do they compare. I saw a youtube video of them and the Troy seems loose and has forward and backward motion but the Magpul is solid. Any coments? Reason I am asking Primary Arms has the Troy on sale for $19.99 limit of 2 but if Magpul is better I would rather get thoses.

same here magpul only! but I have two, and if there is any side to side play in the bolt release button there is going to be play in the lever. My New Frontier Lower has a little side to side play in the bolt release button itself. and the further down the BAD lever you go the more it seems to be. Can you post a link so we can see it. I found one on sexyweapon.com LOL and check out what they have all their troy parts mounted on!!

Thanks folks. I guess I should have searched both by themself. I found the Magpul B.A.D but nothing on the troy. The front to back play on the troy looks substantial with the lever not the bolt release, maybe 1/8 -1/4" just looking at the video. `I was just wondering if it was the troy lever or the guy had issues mounting it

can you link us the video...I would like to see. It appears that the Troy "head" that attaches to the button is larger than the magpul and the magpul is inletted for the Bolt Release Button to fit snugly in and even wraps around the shape of the button. I cannot tell you about the Troy, also the magpul has one Torx screw that hold the front and back securly together, I cannot tell how the Troy is assembled. Troy is known for good products just as Magpul is, I like the shape of the Magpul system better but that is just my opinion and YMMV.

I didn't mean to imply that you should have searched. I'm just a bit lazy to type out all that again.

The way I see it:

The lever is an add on over the bolt release paddle. If your bolt release paddle has lateral play, your assist lever will evidence the same play. If you don't snug down the two halves that sandwich over the paddle, you'll get that play. Make sure to use some blue thread locker on the fastener, and tighten it down.

Yes I understand that but it looks like the bolt release doesn't have much movement. I understand it would be amplified with the longer lever but it doesn't seem it should be that much. Would be nice to see both levers on the same rifle.

I have the Troy and it locks down very tight, once you sandwich the two halves together you can move it forward or back to the spot you like then lock down on the small allen on the front to set it from moving, nephew has the magpul and both are nice, I just decided to go with a Troy on a few parts so that it wasn't all magpul on my sport.
Troy parts are very well made.

After watching the video (I had a hard time with his inability to say ambidextrous) I like the look of the Magpul over the Troy and am glad I purchased the Magpul's. I dont have a lot of Magpul stuff on my rifles because there are so many out there that look just like each other but the troy looks bigger and thicker and less stream lined. Also if you watch carefully his bolt release button does move from side to side on the "custom" billet lower not as much as the Troy release lever does but it does shift. I would be concerned about the set screw coming loose, I am not a big fan of using locktite on most of my accesories, I do not have a problem with them coming loose after tightening correctly plus as he said he didnt read the instructions. However they both look like they would do the job and it is your rifle so do it however you want. After all you are the one who has to be happy with it. :D

I use the magpul B.A.D lever and it rocks the house. I use it to run and gun and it has never failed me yet. IMHO it is a solid product.
