Someone in Congress is taking notice of the Feds heavy purchases of ammo.

The AMMO Act of 2013 will enforce transparency and accountability of federal agencies' ammunition supply while also protecting law-abiding citizens access to these resources.

Republicans in the Senate and House are expected to introduce a joint bill Friday that would limit the amount of ammunition that federal agencies are allowed to buy and stockpile over the next six months, the Washington Free Beacon reports.

President Obama has been adamant about curbing law-abiding Americans' access and opportunities to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
One way the Obama administration is able to do this is by limiting what's available in the market with federal agencies purchasing unnecessary stockpiles of ammunition," the statement adds.

Let's see how this developes.

I'm just amazed anyone in Congress even noticed. Maybe one of them wanted to go shooting or take their child or grandchild shooting and found out there is no ammo on the shelves and there hasn't been any for many months.

I'll believe it when I see it and even if they pass the law who says Obama will obey it? He ignores the Constitution, what's to ignoring a silly law to him?

Perhaps the "plan" was to drive the prices way up, and then sell the "surplus" on the open market at a huge profit... I fully expect to find that some gun-ban congresscritters bought up supplies of large capacity magazines last year, and were selling them through proxies on GB and eBay...

If it were an issue of "fairness", anything over a year's supply ought to be sold to the public AT COST, though I doubt that this would come anywhere near making up for the increased prices we've been paying, or the lost profits for the regular retailers because they didn't have normal supplies to sell.
