Ammo at the Gun Show

Did real good( I think) on buying ammo at the gun show. One fellow had a whole bunch of jacketed 38s and 357 ammo for a decent price. Since I mostly load all my ammo in 38 and what few 357 I shoot I don't really pay much attention to prices these days. Anyway I got 3 100 round boxes of 130 gr white box Winchester and 500 rounds of Remington 125 gr JHP 38s and a total of 500 rounds of Remington 125 and 158 gr JHP 357s plus one 50 round box of Federal 158gr jsp...all for a price of 225 bucks. Approx 17 cents a round seemed pretty good so I bought it all. I don't usually splurge on ammo like that....but most of the ammo I reload and shoot is lead bullet loads

17 cents per round for factory 38 and 357 ammo is a good deal.

Wish I ran across deals like that at shows around here in Virginia.

The lowest price that I've been able to find on "factory" .38 Spl (typically American Eagle but sometimes Federal and Winchester) at my local gun shows has been $15/box of 50; about $5-6 cheaper than at big box stores.

Pay no attention to Skeet. He is the only member who finds the "Deal of the Year" every weekend at some yard sale, auction, or gunshop. I have no idea how he has time to shoot. He may be an Accumulator saving for the 'I'll need it some day.'

Yet, another good deal the rest of us can only dream about in Fantasyland. I still have my maps he sent me!

I never see deals on ammo at gun sales. All The prices seem higher than normal. Maybe it's me.

I've found a few good deals on reloads but never on factory ammo at gun shows.

Seriously guys.. I actually paid the fellow what he had on the ammo...and he gave me a deal cause I bought it all. I must admit on some ammo I am an accumulator. I bought a whole bunch of 9mm 147 gr HPs a few years ago..and still have quite a bit of it cause I hardly ever shoot the 9. I did sell a couple boxes of this 38 ammo to a friend for my cost for his wife's carry gun. Yes she does shoot too.

Don't listen that guy Engineer 1911...he tells tall tales. I sent him fake maps to my honey holes...and I'm gonna be looking at some stuff today that is going to be pretty cheap. Lotsa powder primers and ammo..reloaded ammo and a bunch of Lee loaders

As far as reloads..I bought a large..very large lot of ammo and other stuff from an estate and sold all the lead bullet 38 reloads to one fellow for 150 bucks as components. I am sure he shot 'em up but there were over 3200 rounds in that batch. I actually made a tiny profit on them too. Still have about a third of that stuff left in the garage.. One day I WILL achieve the American dream and will be able to park a car in the garage....Hopefully

A friend gave me 4 boxes of remanufactured 41 mag from a now-defunct ammo company. I think I may throw the balance away, as I've had several split cases and pierced primers with what should be low-pressure practice ammo.

I have a 2 car garage with a 4 foot space between out side walls and 10 foot wide over head doors. The garage is 32' wide by 24' deep. It will accept my wife's car, 16" fishing boat, 2 table saws, 3' x 6' saw cabinet on wheels with two 12 inch miter saws, two Craftsman rollaway tool cabinets with top chests, Harbor Freight wood work bench, lawn mower, and a complete selection of stuff.

My truck has never been in the garage except for unloading.

A friend gave me 4 boxes of remanufactured 41 mag from a now-defunct ammo company. I think I may throw the balance away, as I've had several split cases and pierced primers with what should be low-pressure practice ammo.

I think I would dismantle that ammo and use the cases primers and bullets with my own load of powder. Not that 41 cases etc are hard to find but no sense in wasting them.
