Hey there everyone...I just bought my very first handgun (M&P 9c) and I love it. I've been to the range a couple of times already and have fired 400 rounds through it. I've been using the Independence 115 gr ammo, as this is the only kind the range has and I haven't had a problem with it. What's a good brand of ammo to use for the range? And what type of ammo should i use for home defense?

Thanks

At this point in time, the 115 grain seems to be most popular, and easier to obtain. Even though most agree it is a "target load", it's a heck of a lot better than a fly swatter, when the chips are down.

Range time = cheap ammo. Whatever ammo is available and cheapest at your location. I shoot everything from Blazer aluminum & brass, Independence, AE, Wolf/Tula/ Herters steel case, PPU, Aguila...etc...etc. Unless you are testing reliability and accuracy of a new self defense bullets.

Self defense =All hollow point. Speer Gold Dot, Winchester Ranger, Remington Golden Sabers. Mostly 124gr +p. You can try 115-147gr to see which one your gun is most accurate with

Any load for the range at a low price if you can find it.

For SD loads I like three......

Federal 115 +P
Speer GD 124gr +P
Federal 147gr HST
There are others that will work but these have good "Street records".
