Yes, it's true.
I am an Ammo-holic.
There they were at Cabelas sitting on the bottom shelf.
I ask the clerk, do you have a limit?
He replied, as many as you can carry.
I bought two.
Don't want everybody to know that I'm a, well you know.
Also bought some 38+ P.
Buts that it!
No more ammo for me!
Well, maybe later at Xmas.
I like to give ammo to my Son and SIL.

You bought"Two"?

You are no ammoholic, I would have left the shelves and back room empty!

Heck, I'd need to take a panoramic pic just for my .22LR.

A few years ago when .22 ammo was really scarce I was in Gouger Mtn. and they just got in a pallet of 1400 rd. buckets of Rem. and they had been out of .22s for a while. They had a sign stating a 10 box limit. I asked the salesman about the sign and he said box or bucket was all the same to him. I bought 10 buckets. Many times I shoot 500 rds. a week. Larry

I don't shoot as many .22 rounds as I once did, still have in the neighborhood of 10K rounds of .22 LR and maybe 3K rounds of .22 Short. I actually prefer shooting .22 Short in those guns that can use it, less noise. That's probably enough to last me through the current panic. I expect another ammo panic to begin in mid-November.

Thankfully i was fully stocked even before the last 'shortage'.
Hopefully I have nearly 50 years left in my expected life span and I'll have a hard time shooting all my ammo in that time. :-)

And a thoughtful Dad and Father-in-Law you are, sir!

I'm not just an Ammo-holic, I'm a carrier! I scour small out of the way gun shops looking for the oddball ammo.

Oh, your grandpa left you his favorite Mannlecher? Is that 6.5 x 53R of 6.5 x54? I have some here some place!

or

You ran out of 303 British? Here is some Japanese 7.7x58R, they made it for captured Brit weapons, and yes, it's still good! But clean it well after using!

or

45-70? Black or smokeless? 300, 405, or 500?

or

25-20? Single Shot Steven's or Marlin's, or Winchester's chambering?

Yes I am an enabler!

Ivan

Speaking of ammoholics...

...just this month I decided to commit to 40S&W, chosen over three other calibers I also owned and had ammo for, as my PD cartridge.. I then bought another S&W M&P 40 pistol..

I then started looking for ammo--haven't ammo-shopped for a couple years--and was suprised at the high prices and reduced volume available.. Having tested PD bullets of many types and brands over the years, I had chosen Federal's HST bullet and ammo as the best of those popularly priced.. Eventually, I bought 3000 rounds of 40S&W 180g. HSTs and 1000 each of Federal Bonded and Winchester PDX1 Bondeds, most of which is on the way..

THEN and only then did I discover that MidwayUSA was selling 20-count boxes of Barnes TAC-XPD ammo for $21.. Since I consider the Barnes all-copper hollow-point bullets to be the best-bar-none PD bullets available--and which sell usually for around 70 cents each--the very-premium ammo for just over a dollar per cartridge is a GREAT deal.. I ordered 10 boxes and then decided to order 30 more boxes.. Alas, they had only 21 more, so I ended up with ALL 31 boxes of Midway's Sunday-night inventory; lucky me..

I think I'll be selling some of my yet-to-arrive Federal and Winchester ammo including my over-stock of HST 357SIG ammo. :)

And I too believe that, just as there's no such thing as having too much money or a reloader having too many empty cases, there's no such thing as having too much ammo as long as one can get it one's safe. :D

Further on my Ammo post above, #12, around the time I ordered the Barnes TAC-XPD ammo, I remembered the 40S&W 'new' nickled primed cases I had accumulated a few years ago.. Found and estimated a count of them--what that means is that I was way too lazy to count them--and also found a box of Barnes 140g. TAC-XP bullets in my surplus stacks.. Bought nine 40boxes of bullets from PowderValley, loaded those empty cases with them, ordered three more boxes of bullets from PV and MidwayUSA, and soon will have about 450 handloaded PD rounds plus about 600 Barnes factory rounds, all with the EXCELLENT 140g. all-copper TAC-XP bullets.. Lucky me.

I fantasized about buying more components to load more 40s for practice, but after considering how many factory PD rounds I have, I decided that this little viruscrisis-summer fling is all for me, probably forever.

I've got a decent amount of ammo. At least enough to shoot for a while. I even quit buying when the shortage started and ammo was still sitting there on the shelf for the taking.
Now I wish I had bought it. I'm glad I got what I did.
