Ammo nightmares

If that's all you got or can afford use it. My opinion is fmj is better than nothing. And let me tell ya I've been a street medic for over twenty years and just about every DRT I've seen has been toasted with cheap fmj ammo.

I can vouch for the above comment. I was a medic in the inner city for a few years in my former life, and most of the folks who had Christmas cancelled were shot with whatever happened to be in the gun when it was stolen. I think the biggest concern with fmj for defensive purposes is as one of the posters indicated, it has a propensity to wound rather than kill. The design was considered "more humane", and had the added bonus of tying up a couple of the wounded guys buddies while they were carrying him off the battlefield. If they were tied up carrying their buddy, they weren't shooting at you. Overpenetration is certainly a concern in a self defense environment, as you are responsible for whatever gets taken out with your round.

I would use Gunbot
GunBot find 9mm ammo in stock
Set the price you want to pay per round & when the notice sound plays go a head & order.
I have used them over the last few weeks & replenished my ammo supply at reasonable prices.

The reason FMJ ball ammunition is required in war is for humane reasons and that expanding bullets as described in the Hague Conference of 1899 (and as early as St. Petersburg of 1868) were prohibited in War. Ball ammunition tends to wound rather than maim or even kill. It was accepted by armies of the world who knew that a wounded soldier put out of action and requiring treatment reduced battle effectiveness more than killing one outright. In a self defense situation where rules don't apply, using an expanding bullet is generally accepted as being the most immediately effective in stopping the attacker. Of course the best ammunition to use when the time comes is the one that you have.:D

That was the thinking in 1899. However, Armies of the world found out rather quickly that Spitzer bullets tend to Yaw due to the rearward weight bias as soon as they hit the body and inflict a wound every bit as bad as those produced by hollowpoints. In addition many versions of various military bullets were specifically designed with "light alloy" in the tip with lead at the rear in increase the tendency to yaw when they hit someone.

Basically, it's really really bad when for them when someone gets shot, be it ball or hollowpoint. So, if all you can find is target ammo you can rest assured that you can still defend yourself, you might have to use more rounds to do it but even a really weak target round can stop an assailant if it's well placed.

This is true....

This is true, however, spitzer bullets aren't generally used for self defense.
