I think it is about time for another ammo prices thread. :D

Wally World sells out as fast as it comes in. They have not raised their prices that I have noticed.

My local gun shop has a lot of handgun ammo in stock, so you can get just about any caliber you want. A lot of MagTech and S&B, and the prices are in the $25/box of 50 and up, but it is available. The same WWB 100 count .45 ACP FMJ, that WW sells for $29.99/box, is sold in this gun shop for $54.99! Yikes! But they sold all they had.

Went into a Gander Mountain today just to see what they had. Prices were really sky-high, much more than the aforementioned gun shop. $79.99 for a box of 50 (Remington) .41 Magnum.

So how is it in your area? Anyone still having a problem getting ammo at any price?

Supply is spotty around here. I've been able to order primers online without the gouging (except for the haz-mat fee) and have gotten some blazer for 380 and 40. I would hope that the hoarders have run out of storage room and/or money. Given that the economy hasn't begun to turn around, I feel that the buyers operating on emotion have a problem with purchasing additional ammo or buying gas and food. My 2¢

A 50 round box of WWB 357 110gr JHP and a 50 round box of WWB in 44 Mag 240gr JSP cost me $67.87, including tax at Wally World yesterday. Max of 2 boxes per customer per purchase. I got my two boxes. You get yours? Actually, I got the last box of 357 and the second to last box of 44 Mag Wally World in Oakland, TN had. Wally World had all the 22 Mag and 17HMR you could shoot in about a years time and one box of 44 mag (after I got one box) and NOTHING ELSE in handgun ammo. I stopped in GM in Jackson, TN last Saturday, NO primers except for 209 shotgun shell primers. Low/no powder depending on what powder you wanted/needed. Sierra 308 168gr bullets were $39.95 a box of 100. I also stopped in Rural King (simular to Wallies) in McKenzie, TN. NO HANDGUN ammo of any flavor except for Federal 22LR 550 round box for $39.95. I told them no thanks, I would wait until the histeria subsided.

But the question is, WHEN WILL THE NEWB/HORDER HISTERIA SUBSIDE?!?!?!

Wally World this morning--31.95 fot WWB 45acp--had 8 boxes. 29.95 for 40 S&W 100 couut. 19.95 for 357 mag per 50. 6 box limit per day. Iola, Ks.

Hi Jack!

We live in a community of approximately 200,000, here in central Indiana.

When I saw your subject line, I thought to myself; "What ammo?" <shrug><smile>

Still little more that shotgun shells available.

One or the other HAS to happen sooner rather than later. Right?

Seems like now everything is available in Central Ohio again, if your willing to pay the price. Everything except primers of course. This week I bought Varget ($24), 748 ($23), and a brick of Federal 22 LR ($20). I also bought a couple hundred Silver Bear 62gn HP 223 @ $15 a hundred, but that's a different story. Maybe the stuff is moving westward as we speak.

I ued to buy all my ammo at the local Bi-Mart (local department store similar to K-mart), but I haven't seen a single box of anything in there for weeks. Prices have not increased there where they do have a box or two in.

The local gun shop is where I've been finding stuff I want lately. Boxes of .40 which I shoot most run between $19.99 to $25.00 for 50 depending on brand. Prices have not increased there either that I can tell.

Supply still pretty bad in S. Fla. Hitting a Gun Show next weekend to locate 38 target rounds
My local shop has a good supply of Federal .38 Special Target ammo, if you want to pay $39.99/50. :(

I'm guessing that there are more .38 Special revolvers out there than any other handgun/caliber. Most people who own them are probably the type who eschew the purchase of an EBR. Such people probably think that it is prudent to put the money saved by not buying EBRs toward a lifetime supply of .38s before the axe falls.

The local Wal-Mart has Federal 9mm FMJ for $8.99 /50. I bought 4 boxes, still had another 10 boxes on the shelf. Also had WWB .40 S&W. No .223 Rem to be found.

I reload all my center fire so cannot comment on some of that. I live in the Bitterroot Valley in far western MT. We have 2 small mfg plants here. They are backed up on all orders 6-12 months. I was able to score some 22 LR @ $23 brick & 22 MRF @ $70. Bought some .32 S&W Long @$15. Other calibers were priced accordingly. Win. Primers $40/M. Rimfire ran $27-30 a brick. There was no push at all at a recent gun show where all calibers new & Reman. were available. People were walking away & commenting on high prices. Lots of reasonable ammo & bullets sat on tables. No money, well stocked or resistance to high prices. ???? I also recently bought pistol/shogun powders like Unique,Red Dot,Herco,Clays for $96-98 8#.

After running from store to store a number of times, looking for ammo, and making a number of phone calls to lgs's, I gave up and started ordering online. Mostly from Cabela's and SGCUSA. It's usually backordered unless you check everyday and happen to get lucky. But I figured the shipping cost isn't any worse than the cost of gas. And I have ammo delivered to my door. Cabela and SGCUSA prices seem to have remained pretty stable.

Ammo Prices

Hear in coastal South Carolina supply is spotty at the big box stores. The local gun ranges/store and pawn shops have ammo readily available at 200-300% mark-up. One of the owners was "caught" buying and reselling at his shop and now the sporting goods tellers are now wise to him and his employees so they put up limits. He was buying 1000-2000 dollars at a time and buying regardless of caliber. Told the clerks "I want from here to here (the shelf) basically wiping the shelf clean. Kinda hard to not get caught when the sticker from the previous store is still on the box along with your little round price sticker!

Ammo Prices---Current Status In your Area

The status is that there isn't any to speak of. My local dealer says he could order 20 cases of handgun ammo & be lucky to get 5 boxes. At Wally-World in a nearby town, what little they get in is immediately swallowed up by a certain pawn shop who doubles the price and re-sells it to semi-desperate customers. I can get by for a while yet on my components on hand and my bullet moulds.

A local WW in eastern Pa. actualy had enough WWB 9mm 100 ct. to last from yesterday afternoon to about now (noon). I called ahead as I was tipped off by a friend. They said they had 3 boxes left. It would have been gone by the time I got there. My friend said they had received about 6 case on Thursday.

This is better than it has been lately around here. Their price was $20.00 per box (100 rds).

Was in my local gun shop today and was supprised to see this... .30-30 WCF cases...fired were packaged up in bags of 20 for $20.00!

HOLEY TOLEDO JONES!

Now this guy is usually very reasonable. I said "What's up with this 20 for $20.00 .30-30?

He answered..."That's what it's going for!"

Also, right along side were packages of 270 Win, new, plated cases, for $9.95. Now that is no bargin, ....but....?

Just thought I'd throw this out for comment.
