I was unsure where to post this thread. It is mostly about the ammo. Today I purchased a 66-2 and a 686 -4. It came as a package deal with 750 rounds and approximately 20 holsters.

It was a great buy that I couldn't pass up. Both guns have been polished but otherwise they are like new. This is my ninth model 66. The 686 is my second. The first being a CS-1. I have had several different 686's in the past

Anyway when I got home I started looking at the holsters and ammo. There are 150 rounds 357 magnum and 12 boxes of 38 special FMJ. Among all this ammo is two 40 caliber 20 round boxes of Streak visual ammo. I went online and checked the Streak rounds out. They are supposed to be safe even on indoor ranges. Anyone familiar with this round?

I used to have some old 38 caliber mercury tipped rounds that I got rid of
years ago.

"Streak Ammunition" is very modern.

I have not seen it for a few months, however I believe it is still in production.

It is a chemical "tracer" type bullet.

There is no burning element in the base to cause fires.

Think of it more like a very brief cyalume type material in the base of the bullet.

Truth be told, I personally find them rather unimpressive.
