Ammo showing up on shelves.

I wish ammo would start showing up here in memphis. I went to walmart, bass pro, and a classic arms today for some 9mm and walmart was out, bass pro only had the 100 round boxes, and the gun shop wanted 18 bucks for reloads of 50 which is all they had. Here I just bought this handgun and I cant even find any ammo to shoot it. Maybe I should just practice throwing it at the targets...or trade it in for a .22

No ammo at Wallyworld except for oddball rifle ammo. Same for K-Mart. Some online sources are starting to get their inventory back up. Dpends on what caliber and what kind of ammo you want.

No 32 ACP, 380 ACP, 38 Spcl (standard pressure), 357 Mag, 357 Sig, 40 S&W, 45 ACP, 45 Colt at BPS in Memphis yesterday. Wally World in Oakland, TN had it all except 32 ACP. Just and update. BPS did have 38 +P. Not much in rifle cals.

Class III

North Alabama is still pretty dry (except the high priced Gander Mtn). There was very little (handgun ammo) even at a recent gun show in Florence, Alabama. Wish the shortage would end soon -- I'm getting the DTs!!!!!!!

I've had no trouble getting 38 special from the Cabela catalog. The item is in the printed catalog but not listed on the website. However if you type in the inventory or item number it shows up on the website. I order it on the website and have it delivered to the Boise store so I don't have to pay shipping.

However pickings are still pretty slim if you're shopping the shelves.

Wallmart today

Just purchased 3 50 round boxes of Fed champ in 9mm for$9.xx and Fed Camp 1n 40 S&W for $15.xx.

Not here in NYS my wal-mart shelves are dry of any kind of ammo for month's & the Mgr. there says there is no sign of re stocking any time soon, looks likw WM sporting goods dept is on its way out, to bad it use to be a great place for sports men to shop, now I go to Gander MT who has ammo & what ever else you need.

I have been looking lately for some 44 specials and founds one box of Gold Dot for $30 for 20 rounds. To pricey for me. Found some 44 mag at Walmart. Starting to see more ammo on the internet and the price seems to be getting a little better, but local prices are still way too high in AL. I can't remember the last time I saw some 357's in a store.

I spoke to one of the managers at our local WalMart, through whom I used to special order defense ammo, about why there's limited handgun ammo in our WalMart. He said that he can't even order it directly anymore. It all has to go through corporate and he has to take whatever they send him, which is very little in the way of handgun ammo. He'll get a box or two in and it's gone right away.

That sounds Kosher to me Barb.
Yours is exactly the experience I've had for over a year now. Command and control corporate has kept the field load shotgun stuff over stocked throughout. Even the hunting loads of rifle stuff had slowed to a trickle till about 2 months ago.

I just got back from Wally World. I noticed they had over 50 boxes of .40 S&W, but not much else. So if that's what you're looking for, the Oshtemo WW has it.

It's funny how they display their ammunition. There is one shelf that appears to be all handgun ammo, and one that appears to be all rifle. But this .40 S&W is on the rifle shelf, way off to the right. Maybe one of the clerks is trying to "hide it in plain sight" till his buddies get there?

Still not much handgun ammo in Phoenix area, except 40 S&W, and some Remington Golden Saber in other calibers. Bass Pro did have Win white box .38 130 grain fmj plinkers today for about $19. Rifle ammo is back, with LOTS of .223 just sitting @ 50cents+ per round.
