Just ordered 10 boxes of American Eagle 5.56 from Cabela's, $9.99/box + $5 shipping with Cabelas VISA. Given the crazy prices elsewhere, not bad. I'm not an AE fan for accuracy, but it does fire every time.

Cabela's came through with 10 boxes of Winchester 5.56 delivered yesterday. I'm off from work today, might reward myself with a range visit and see how well the Winchester shoots through the new homebuilt, maybe bring along the 10/22.

13 boxes of rounds isn't even worth me driving the 2miles down the road just to go to the range. 130 boxes sounds a little more like my cup of tea.

Xmas came again for me i guess just now... Happen to be in WALMART to get my a sandwich from Subway and happen to notice the delivery semi in the back of store. Just on a whelm went to the sporting section and soon as the case was scanned into inventory what do you know I bought out the full truck load pallet of tula and remington .223 before it even hit the shelf. And for some reason it seems to be cheaper. That is a total of 6 cases at 500 rounds for tula per case and a total of 18 of the remington 100 pack bulks. Think I am good now... Yes Tula is steel but at this point I can't be picky. And bulk pack isnt the best but been saving up and had to do it. Going to give out some to a few of my soldiers looking for ammo also and a few guys at the range. Good deeds i believe can be redone in the future.

Some people have all the luck :D ...... for me, if it weren't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all:(

Check around Fort Knox riderrick. Seems that the Wal-Marts around post are getting more of the ammo as they know the demand from us. I know here another truck is scheduled for Tuesday but they couldnt tell me how many would be coming in but best believe I will try and be there. Wal-Mart is always good about trying to keep up things they know the military world wants or needs in order to compete with the Commissary and PX

My local WalMarts have been out of .223 and 5.56 NATO in any kind of bulk pack forever.I asked when they had the 5.56 Nato last in bulk and he said they only got two cans in the first of last year and has not seen it again.. Ya they have the 20 round Tula steel case ammo..I don't use it. Never did.. That may change but I'll wait it out.. Got lucky in Brownells too, never thought of elections or that having anything to do with pricing on some guns and ammo, Not to mention the massacre that took place.. I just happened to see a used AR several months ago.. Wife knew I wanted one and talked me into it after a hour, I have a great wife! So I started shopping on Brownells site back then and guess just missed all this craziness.. Pure luck.. If I knew this before time I would have picked up more ammo.. I think the AR will be one of the guns that go with me to the range once in a while to conserve ammo.. I have not checked on other handgun cal. yet.. or .22LR.. If this madness don't stop I'll have to go back to target shooting every few years!! Start reloading or something.. Are they gouging reloading supplies too? George

George...right now they are hard to find but the prices seem to be staying reasonably steady. There are far fewer reloaders than gun owners.

I just ordered some ammo off cabals its back ordered 11-12 week delivery estimate but I figured 24.99 for 50 aint to horrendous for Fiocchi. I wish I could reload thought that seems the way to go to tell yea the truth.

Anyone ever backorder anything from Cabals?

On CNN today they had few Police departments coming out and saying due to civilian sales they will have to start rationing ammo to officers in the next few months.

That's b.s. Not you, HotRod, but that report from CNN. Ammo factories all over the world are right now cranking out ammo at max capacity. I don't see how this can last more than 3 or 4 months tops, especially given our pull back in Afghanistan and less need by the military.

I was kinda thinking as they where saying it why cant they get there ammo from Lake City. The government likes to stick its nose into everything lately. Why cant they supply police forces with ammo if needed in a emergency.

If you meant Cabelas, then I have and haven't had any issues.

Good to here yea I figured since I am sitting on less then 300-400 rounds of .223 I might as will back order it cause 2-3 range trips and I be out. I didn't have time to stock up like I have other calibers. What can I say I came late to the party. I did call Cabals they where super friendly and they are running a flat shipping rate right now on orders over 99.99.

I placed an order with Cabela's back on 12/31 for Remington UMC Value Pack .223, 55gr. (400rds) W/dry box for $159.99. Expected delivery is around 1/25. :D ...... I have had no problems in the past with back orders from Cabela's.

I have great respect for police officers, but as a retired member of the military it has always goaded me to hear "civilian" police talk about civilians.:)

Grover, Thanks, looks like it would good time to get into reloading! At least enough to replenish the ammo I have so i can go to the range once in a while.. I hope all this s--t hitting the fan don't get to ugly. I still don't understand how us as in "we the people" were willing to dig a deeper hole for our selves for another 4 years . I mean I just don't believe it still! George

I just went to PSA and they had several cases of Winchester 45grn frangible 5.56 NATO. I picked up 4 boxes not wanting to get a case of ammo I've never fired before. I am just curious how this ammo performs before I go back and get a case on Monday. So let me know if you shot it before.

the frangible ammo completely comes apart when it hits the smallest thing. I have shot some of it PDog hunting. I like it, it is a little slower than my normal ammo but under 100 yards it should hold the same zero as just about anything. It is a great self-defense round, as soon as it hits sheet rock it breaks up into a lot of tiny pieces and the same when hunting varmints....you just have to shoot it and see how it performs for you.

Other than shooting a few reloads, firing 556 isn't going to happen much for me because I won't burn ammo out of my stash (at this point) as its to dang expensive and rare to resupply. That is what the 15/22 is for. ;) Hopefully the 556 shortage will end soon...

I did shoot some of the frangibles today at the indoor range as well as some 69grn HP. I think both shot well but that's at max distance of 24 yards. I've got to say I love my M&P 15A.
