As a New-B to the AR-15 world I have a question about Red-Dot scopes. I was wondering if any member out here could give me some ideas for a good/inexpensive Red-Dot. As of right now I have a Spikes complete lower on order and I still haven't decided on a complete upper yet but it will be of the 2.23/5.56 caliber. Right now I have a M&P 15-22 with a Tru-Glo Red-Dot which is great for the .22Lr but I don't think it would stand up to the recoil of the higher caliber .223/5.56 Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

For inexpensive I like the Vortex red dots, at about $175 they're darn good.
Yeah, I know that's not all that cheap, but they work and don't fall apart when used on an AR.
Cheaper red dots will work, but have a high failure rate.

Primary Arms has always been good to me:

I own a Primary Arms M3 Clone & a Primary Arms 3 x Magnifier. Works great.

I also have a Bushnell Tactical 1X32 Dot. It is my favorite dot.

The Bushnell is currently mounted on my 15-22, but it's built to withstand center-fire AR stresses.

I love my Vortex Strikefire. Was able to snag it for $119 on Black Friday. It's a great sight that's very much worth a look.
Thanks for the info. WillP, I did a lot of research and surfing the internet for a good price, the best I could do was $165.00 @ Slingmaster.org and that includes the high rise mount w/free shipping. :)

No problem Rick. PSA just had them for $129 but I guess they sold out. You still got a good deal. You will find that it's still worth that price. Please post your opinion when you receive it.

This is it on my Sport.

I sure will but it might be awhile, since I'm waiting on my Spikes complete lower, then I still haven't decided on what upper I want so it may be a few months down the road :( ..... I have been all over the internet and everything is sold out! By the way what brand is your cantilever mount? I like the looks of that better than the straight up one. Also how does that co-witness with you iron sights? By the way, nice lookn rig! :D

Good deal Will, I'll get an order off to Amazon this weekend. Like I mentioned in my other post it may be awhile before I can post any pics. of my AR-15 semi build, but once I get all of the parts I should be good to go. :D

Very cool! Can't wait to see it. What do you think of it so far?

Bushnell TRS-25. About $80 and with the right riser you can co-witness with your iron sights. It is small and lightweight too.

That is one Sweet Lookn Red Dot:D .... Since it might be awhile before I get my AR-15 upper & lower, I just might go ahead and mount it on my M&P 15-22 just to try it out:D

Just picked up an NcStar 3-9x to play around with. Not bad performance for $100

Very hit and miss on holding zero.

I have 2 of them, neither holds for more than 10 shots. (I got them from a vendor next to us at a show last year.)

SOme seem to work well, so it's not a 100% thing, but I know that one I had did not like being bounced at all.
