With all the current interest in the new L frame Mod 69 it could create a whole new series of innovation.
I'm far from an expert in firearms engineering but it would seem the two piece barrel creates an opportunity for S&W to offer a Dan Wesson type pistol pack consisting of three interchangeable barrels. How about a pack that includes a 3", 5", and a 7" barrel.
Those packs could be offered in .22, .357, .41 Mag, .44 Mag/44 Special and some other calibers capable of fitting the structure and dimensions of the L frame.
I don't know if the S&W 2 piece barrel system would be capable of owner changeability, but if they are I'd buy one in each mentioned caliber pack....
Just sayin'
