Now look at that three kinds of beef.:)

I just need to know what they separated from the chicken?

Possibly some chicken feet or tongue.

Beef should be steak, roast or ribs and Chicken should only be separate from your vegetables and potatoes on the plate.

Sorry thread drift. Now about that Wolfes canned chili.

Wolfes,Hormel,Stag all equally over dosed with chili powder.

If I want to taste that much chili powder I'll just go stick my tongue in the chili powder can.

I hear you, beef offal and whatever fell off the chicken conveyor plus antimicrobials and additives to kill the actual taste.

The wife and I were hard up when we started but still managed to avoid that particular delicacy.

If you think that eating all parts of a dead animal is horrible you might consider how people have survived all these years without knowing (or caring) that it was horrible.

Potted meat? If that's not the bottom of the bottom, I don't know what is.
And I have eaten a bunch of GI canned food including survival kit rations.
I knew a dude who worked in a meat processing plant.
He said if you saw what went into the 'processed' meats you would not eat any of them. Parts is parts.
I'm just glad I never worked there!
One state and only one state has food and meat standards which exceed the Fed requirements. You'll see it mentioned on a lot of processed food.
Who?

The above is why I will never eat processed """"""""""meat""""""""" again--like baloney etc. I get my lunch meat sliced right off the bird. I saw what went into making baloney--and never ate it again after that class trip to Kanes meat processing plant here in Corpus. God--blasted that is one disgusting--smelly place.

Sounds like the McDonalds """"""""""meat"""""""""" menu.

Now that I do know---which has been for about twenty or more years now--I care. ;)

I can't think about it or I would never eat chorizo again.

Think on it or not but--make sure you get the real stuff.A big tell tale is--the amount of grease contained theirin. If loads of grase--avoid--little or no grease--that is the stuff to get. Ill never eat the stuff that aint one hundred percent real beef.

The best canned chili I have eaten is the Walmart brand, Great Value.
Also their canned vegetables are as good or even better than most others.
Not saying I am a great fan of Walmart, but where I live it is only one of two places to grocery shop.

Is there an "acceptable" canned chili available for those emergency midnight chili dogs ?

I always freeze a few smaller containers when I make chili, for use as hot dog or baked potato topping, but a non-refrigerated option for camping or backup would be nice......

1. I'll make up some chili using a counterfeit recipe from Tommy's Burgers in SoCal. THE BEST for burgers, tamales and hot dogs.
2. Nobody has mentioned Dennison's==best of the canned stuff (such as there is) We keep a can or two in the pantry for my day's off as a "bachelor".
3. In SoCal, we would get XLNT tamales, frozen. Good tamales and they had a pretty decent chili also=frozen in a brick.

Somebody mentioned Traders Joes Chili.
I have never had it, but most of their stuff is pretty good.
Here in NM I make my Chile Con Carne local stlye.
That means all chili all the time, no tomato anytime.
I was raised down South where Chile meant a stew with tomatoes.
I have moved around a bit and adapted some.
Local Chile tends to be watery and hot. I usually thicken mine a little and it's medium hot. Still hot enough to burn a flatland gringo down, I guarantee!
The locals never cook it with beans, that don't mean they don't eat it with beans. A lot of NM food is mixed unto the plate.
And some of the combinations may sound unusual to some. Red chile sauce is way more common out here than chile con carne.
Red chile sauce is used like gravy. It's put in things like turkey and mashed potatoes. Don't knock it till you try it! If you are a Chile Head in training, you do need to try it.
I posted a while back about getting the chile cheeseburger up in Tres Piertas, NM.
She put my burger on a plate. She asked 'do you want a chile burger?'
I say yes. She turns around and gets a dipper of chile out of a pot. Dumps it on my burger.
This is Northern NM, so it's hot and watery! That little diner had been closed for a long time now.
But everytime I pass there I think about the three ladies who ran it and that cheeseburger.

I dont know if I have the nerve to try their brand but--about a week ago--I tried a can of their version of spaghettios and meatballs. It wasnt exactly bad--but not near as good as Chef Boy ardee SP? Also, when opening a can of theirs--I noticed light colored goop all over the lid. That goop was NOT--sauce.... I threw the other can to a neighbor who can eat practically anything--including pencil lead, glass, grass and bark.

Actually there is a go to emergency hot dog chili sauce.

Walmart brand Great Value Hot Dog Chili Sauce.

Tastes pretty good over a dog with extra cheese and some mustard.

If I have any left over I will also use this sauce on a baked potato.

I think that it tastes pretty good for something that just needs heated in the microwave.

The "goop" was almost certainly congealed fat, Ringo. I don't eat Spaghetti-O's but I'd bet that's all it was. I'd just scrape it off and throw it away.

Who?

My buddy worked for Oscar Myer while in college, “ we used everything but the squeal” he said.

Wolf and the rest of the canned chilis are real chili, they just aren't good chili. Go to a local chili cook-off and make the rounds. There are plenty of bad chilis out there. Here, the service at our Hooters is so bad, I don't care what the waitresses look like or the food taste like. If I were scared of fat, I would be a damn vegan. I want to try head cheese. I've seen it on Food Network, and how it's made. Looks yummy.

I was just down at Traders Joes.
I found the chili section.
Hold on there! The beef -bean chili was all gone.
Folks must be reading this thread?

I did and I normally dont eat that garbage either but--had some left over cheese bread from Little Caesars pizza--that had to have something to go with it.
