"Deer season" - The best holiday since Christmas.
Just hunting PA this year. Missed a doe during archery, glancing an arrow off a branch. Missed a beautiful, big buck at 20 yards. My fault...
Took a doe at about 25 yards. Firearms season - took a doe with a rifle opening day. Second day I took a decent 6pt buck at about 35 yards with my 6 inch Colt Anaconda. Had the pleasure of seeing a bobcat, watching a fisher cat working a wood pile for chipmunks, and having a small woodpecker join me in my pop up blind. He didn't stay long.
I usually handgun hunt with my S&W's & Rugers, but wanted to give the Anaconda I bought last winter a try. I appreciate any quality make, and this gun is a winner. I was using a handload with W296 and a 240 grain XTP bullet at about 1300 fps. Said buck, hit broadside tight behind the shoulder, ran about 25 yards, and piled up. It was getting dark, and turned out the batteries in my camera were to weak to fire the flash. Dropped him off that night at the butcher shop.
So, I figured I would post a picture of this nice little 6 pointer from another perspective - The finished product
Guess whats for dinner..
