On Sunday we took my older son to the airport after his brief visit. He came home on the 23rd, hadn't seen his new son that was born Oct. 11 since the 20th of Oct. He has been at Ft. Hood prepping for his latest deployment. The good news is that since he's with an aviation regiment (he's now a flight medic after almost 10 years as a combat medic) it's a shorter deployment than his previous times.

I rode with him, my daughter in law and grandbaby to the airport so she'd have some help with the munchkin and not to be alone on the way back to her house. Her mother was coming over for the afternoon to keep her company and mostly so she could nap & her mom could take care of the baby.

Looking forward to posting "And he's home" late in the summer.

I hate the flour-like consistency of the sand there. It gets in everything. Send my thanks to him for his service and my wishes for a speedy and safe return.

Thank you son for his service to our wonderful country.

The Combat Medic Prayer

Oh, Lord I ask for your divine strength to meet the demands of my profession. Help me to be the finest medic, both technically and tactically.

If I am called to the battlefield, give me the courage to conserve our fighting forces by providing medical care to all who are in need.

If I am called to a mission of peace, give me the strength to lead by caring for those who need my assistance.

Finally, Lord help me to take care of my own spiritual, physical, and emotional needs.

Teach me to trust in your presence and never-failing love.

AMEN

A mixture of happiness then sadness because he's leaving. My son's back for a short while and I just got off SKYPE with him down in San Diego. He's with our 5 month granddaughter he hasn't seen in 4 1/2 months, too. Sounds like you have a great son. Hope he's back with his family safe and sound as soon as possible. I always get a great feeling hearing about our kids serving on here, but that distance is tough. BTW, my son's out of the Marines and is a private contractor now. Let your son know there's a bunch of people on this forum who appreciate him and the sacrifices he's making for us.

May GOD be with him and protect him and all our Service men, as he has protected those us before him.

Thank him for his voluntary service, and thank everyone else who has served. I didn't volunteer but would do it again.

GOD speed on his safe return.

May he be protected with Gods help and hope his tour goes as fast as we all wish with he and his comrades all safe.

may he have safe passage through hostile lands and return home safely so you can thank him from all of us for his service

Thanks to your son and everyone in the military for their service. Prayers for their safe return!

Thank your son for his service and his wife for understanding his mission that's in front of him. May God bless everyone and watch over him. Bring him home safe.

Too bad I'm too old and crippled or I'd go too, I would love to go. US old farts have nothing to lose.

Thanks for raising a great young man who wants to serve his country and has a family of his own. May God bless him and all the service men and women. I hope summer comes quick for you and your family

Thank him for his service and he along with all his fellow servicemen and servicewomen and their families will be in my prayers.

Given my own career, I have a special affinity and respect for those who save lives for a living. Please convey to your son my thanks for his service to our country. I will pray for his safe return to you...God bless him. :)

Having been a recipient of military medical care (broken leg during training) I'm doubly grateful for his service. First, just for serving, but even more for providing the care and comfort the wounded so desperately need.

I could not do his job.

Our prayers for a safe return go with him. I know exactly what you're going through, my son got back from his third Afghanistan deployment in September.
