I had gone to the range 2 or 3 times in the past 10 years, usually just tagging a long with some buddies. Earlier this year I moved to Cincinnati and went with my brother in law who owns a M&P 40. I had a blast and started looking for my own. After going to the range a handful of times and trying just about everything they had to rent, I purchased my M&P 9mm 5" Pro. I have always enjoyed auto crossing, racing, and driving schools with my cars, and figured this would let me get into IDPA or some shooting schools and such. Well I clearly couldn't stop there. I bought and immediately sold a Beretta 96d state trooper gun. Loved the feel in my hand but HATED the double action only trigger. I plan on getting my CCW, so after renting various 380's I loved the M&P, and of course liked staying in the family. The 22 followed in similar fashion, and it will be great to teach my wife to shoot (and it is tons of fun to shoot)! The ergonomics of the Glocks never appealed to me, but couldn't pass up a screaming local deal on the G23 with all the typical mods as well as both the .40 cal barrel and a lone wolf 9mm (and 5 mags of each caliber). At the end of the day it is a great shooter, and more compact than the other full size guns. My most recent purchase was the cz-75. I missed the feel of an all metal gun in my, and after shooting a friends cz, fell in love. Such a smooth action, and classy looking weapon! I am going to slow things down on the purchase front, start taking some classes and try to get involved hopefully in some shooting clubs if I can find some locally. Absolutely love this forum, tons of great folks and a wealth of knowledge. Looking forward to continuing to learn and grow in the sport.
