A quick update.

I spent a couple hours tonight after work finishing the stripping down of the MK IV. All the metal is cleaned up and the bore as well. Bore still nice and bright with a good bit of shine. My hands are SORE. Next thing for tonight is a couple of croissants with some olive oil washed down with a Shiner Bavarian Black Lager. I earned that puppy. I will get more pics of all the stamps on the parts Sunday morning before I put it back together and start working on the wood. I am hoping to get the wood finished Sunday and post final pics.

Spent another two hours today cleaning the wood. There is actually some nice tiger striping going on underneath everything. Still pretty dark but I will be waiting for summer to come along so I can do the black plastic bag on the dash routine. Maybe I can get some more out then. It is ready to shoot. Now I just need to get some ammo.

There are two of the round acceptance stamps on the buttstock. The Enfield stamp is nicely visible. The second is just barely visible with the upper curve of the circle under the last 2 in the 4202 stamp. Unfortunately I cannot see it clearly enough to tell what it says.

And finally, a long pic of the whole rifle.

This has been a fun project and now I have a solid shooter level Martini to add to my Briish collection. Can't wait to shoot it.
