Went to a small local gun show yesterday with my friends Deputy Don and steve61. Steve was there first and said there's a .44 HE on a table in the back with odd grips. Well off we go to see this 44. It turns out to be an early production 3rd Model 44 or Wolf & Klar. 5" barrel, honest wear and great mechanics, but wearing aftermarket K frame target grip. A deal is made and now I'm it's new caretaker.
Found a set of period correct service stocks in my wood pile. A good wipe down with an oiled rag and here we are.
My initial internet searches have come up dry in relation to E. A. Haverfield. A letter request is going out this week, even though it will likely show shipped to Wolf & Klar.

Did seller say how long he owned gun? I've seen that gun somewhere before (maybe Gunbroker) . There was a dealer in Georgia selling a lot of law enforcement guns from a private collection. Maybe that's where I saw it.
