And the search begins

Dr. Jinks said this revolver shipped May 1927. No hints, so letter will probably show shipped to Wolf & Klar.
Found this FOIPA file on line last night mentioning Gene Haverfield as a police officer at Nowata, OK.

I can not stress enough how useful newspapers.com has been in my research. Occasionally I will run across some familiar names as fellow users of this invaluable service.

If you're doing any kind of research, it is a huge boon to one's work.

The only downside is that it does not have much from the New York Times databases, but for $4 a month you can get a digital subscription to TNYT and access their TimeMachine archive. Nowhere near as good or as useful as newspapers.com, but every once in a while something useful pops up.

Definitely recommend newspapers.com though!!

What else can we say but, CONGRATULATIONS on your awesome recent acquisition !! Hopefully you purchased it at at least a 'fair' price, which always makes one feel a bit better. Right now, until your Letter arrives, at least you'll be able to enjoy yourself by performing Internet searches to see what you can dig up. As you've seen already, the Web can really make a huge difference in what you can learn about your recent new 'Gem' ! Good Luck,

Best, Dom P.

Very cool! I am so engrossed in this whole thing. Makes me want to start doing researches of this era. That guy was a real law enforcement officer for sure! Thanks to all for getting me started off right, on a Saturday morning.

Yes, JADARE is correct, that info & photo came from Find a Grave - Millions of Cemetery Records. Another source is BillionGraves and I'm not a fan nor subscriber to ancestry.com but I do find a lot of good genealogy info at FamilySearch • Free Family Trees and Genealogy Archives . I attempted to see if Haverfield had any potential living relatives but could not identify any with a short search of those sites.
