about an hour into my shift today, i was written up for something someone else did, that i had no control over. management knew i had no control over the situation, but decided to nail me anyway...

so i stopped at the lgs that is conveniently across the street from where i work and bought a 2nd mag for my shield as i had not planned on shooting and left the spare at home. i always carry extra ammo in my vehicle so i didn't pick up any...

i had less ammo than i thought an basically shot 80 rounds at a piece of paper not caring where i hit, as long as it was on the paper...it was relaxing, only wish i had more ammo to shoot...

who else does this?

what other methods of anger management do you all use?

for years my quads took the edge off, i don't have them and the street bike don't do it for me at all so it is being sold...

You should set the record straight instead of being angry while at the range. That's what I would do.

I normally vent my anger verbally and directly to the person / people responsible for trying to make me look the fool but I can understand where you're coming from. Hang in there!

paper targets sure beats taking it out on management. I'd protest and take it up with HR.

No I don't and wouldn't admit it if I did.

Years ago my ex refused to put my daughter on a plane for my visitation rights. I literally saw RED, the only thing that kept her alive was that she was in CA and I was in MO. I knew that I couldn't exist like that so I used the government's "free" EAP to find a therapist. I explained the situation and how I reacted. She asked what I do for relaxation and I said that I target shoot. She asked, "do you ever imagine that the target is your ex?" Instead of trying to help me she tried to turn it back on me as if I was a violent threat.

I never went to her again and I was billed $300 for her "free services" at a time when I couldn't afford PB&J.

I target shoot in order to get outdoors and commune with nature.

Better be verrrrrry careful! What if someone had seen you go over to the LGS after this incident and called the police thinking you were going to do something crazy? I'm just thinking how it might have made your life more difficult down the road.

I've had issues with people at work but nothing I couldn't cope with until my shift was over.I usually calmed down shortly after leaving work.Just leaving that environment was enough for me.

I am 70 & just give it a ride & everything is better a week later. Have a couple of Coors when u get off work & chill out. Poke pins in the doll. It will iron it self out. Take care buddy. GOD LOVES YOU. I aint rich but I am good looking. I would also delete the post. You were just pissed off. Ask the APE for forgiveness & he will help you out. He did me.

Punching paper and hiking in the desert do it for me. takes all the everyday stress and puts it on the back burner.

Karma! Sooner or later the person that dumped on you will get theirs, may take thirty years but when you hose someone you got one coming and believe me it's in the mail. Trust Me!

I hear you. While writing on a dry erase board used to indicate equipment out of or back in service a super commented that the aggressively ignorant will not read the board. I replied fine, I'll do it anyway. Then I asked what was the next step beyond aggressively ignorant and without hesitation he said "Management".

i've been seen leaving work and going to the store or leaving the store and going to work lots of times before...they actually have a pretty good sub shop...and it is a common lunch stop for the office people...

i was mad all day, i spoke my mind in the "meeting", along as did the guy that was directly responsible for the mess up. we work as a team. we print labels. we are both press operators, he is the primary, i am the helper. cutbacks moved me from the primary to the helper position about 2 years ago. he and i were 2 out of 4 to be bumped back. he was on a different kind of press, but they are going by seniority in moving people back to the operator position. we had an issue that caused some bad labels, maybe 20 out of 50 or so on the sheet for a few hundred sheets. he was supposed to run extra sheets to make up for the junk labels, but forgot to...the presses have a counter on them that counts how many "good" sheet we run. the only way xtra sheets can be added on our press is by turning the counter off. the press is about 40ft long and i am often constantly running from one end to the other..i don't get to see the counters to see if they are on or off. i was told i should have asked if we ran the extra sheets to remind him and because i didn't do that, i was being written up.

oh well, water under the bridge, not the first time...i'm sure it won't be the last...

this was on no way meant to imply that i would take out my anger on my co-workers...

So, what is this boring street bike you have?

i bought a used suzuki intruder last fall...i've put about 250 miles on it...i keep waiting for the jumps, and the corners that i can slide the rear end around while bouncing off of trees. i can't seem to find the big puddle to speed onto and splash the guy ahead of me because he di it to me at the last puddle...or the rocky hill climbs where you don't know whether you are gonna make it or roll back down...

Well, you should have bought a big thumper dual sport instead of the cruiser! :)

When I'm angry (and that's pretty rare nowadays), I do housework. Lots and lots of housework. Lets me channel that energy into something positive.

Don't get mad, just - -

oh believe me, i spoke my mind..the guy doing the right up didn't want to do it...but was made to...had i not had a wife and kid, i may have walked out...

i still gave them 110% too...

- get even. I learned years ago to carry a cassette recorder & a camera.

For my last 25+ years of my working life, I kept a journal. Document your time & main duties in written notes, BUT also the important events with sight & sound. I was called into the office more than once, & I never went alone (secretary, co-worker, or union stewart if available) First thing I would ask "do you object to me recording this meeting?" Not once did I find out what their complaint was.

Had a manager fire me, wound up with him plea-bargaining for restitution + 3 years probation. My journal & documentation was what saved me, & kept me from taking the fall for his illegal deeds.

It is human nature to expect the other person to react as you would. If someone who can not locate their belongings exclaims "who stole my -" rather than "I misplaced my -" or "I can't find my -" is the one to watch & distrust. He is giving you credit for doing what he would do if given the chance in a like situation.

I like people, try to help others, & generally am trusting, but if everything is above board, all is good. Don't hurt to record & document just in case tho :)

Speedquad,It's not always what you do in Life that gets you in trouble. It can also be what someone perceives you to "maybe" be capable of wanting to do that can get you into a world of trouble.

A coworker might innocently say "You know he has a gun in his car" and your anger with a this coworker or management might be the least of your problems.

Don't read into what I'm saying. If you felt slighted or underappreciated by your boss then maybe it's time to move on.

I was a hill climber in the 60s & 70s & rode a 500 tt Yamaha. Lots of torque. It never let me down. I would sweat in 20 degree weather. Winter is when we road them.

I think this thread says more about the incompetence of much of business management than anything else.

even though i was angry all day, no one would have thought i was going to go postal...i let it go until after work when i can vent...always have, always will...

My wife and I occasionally visit a therapist that she had visited during her divorce, he helps us step back and see the big picture. His first name is Phil so naturally we call him Dr Phil.
He is a former Army Ranger and shooting enthusiast, so we spend part of most sessions discussing guns, ammo shortages etc.

Jim in Iowa

...he helps us step back and see the big picture.

A perfect description of what a therapist should do...the ONLY thing a therapist can do...get you to see things from a bit of a different perspective. Everything else the client must do.

You've got a great therapist...the gun thing with him is a bonus.

BTW...is that part of the sessionon the clock?...:D:D:D
