Ankle Holster

Uncle Mikes

I've used several DeSantis Holsters but I find that the less expensive Uncle Mike's rigs are more comfortable as they're tapered to fit the natural contour of the ankle.

The Renegade ankle rig is the best one I have found. It was recommended to me by forum member Sip. Good enough for him, good enough for me.

The Galco Ankle Glove is top notch. I have worn both j-frames and Glock 27 in them. They never move around. I have ran and jumped fences ... Never lost it. Super comfortable neoprene and holds tight. Note- I have never bothered with the calf strap either.

The cheap nylon ones spin on the ankle and cut in to the leg. I'll wear one over a boot but not if I have a Galco for the model I'm carrying.

Another vote for the Galco Ankle Glove. Sheepskin lined so no sweat and I have the calf strap. It doesn't move with a 3" gun in it.

I second that. Fits well over my jump boots and my Justin Ropers (western boots). Very durable too.

I also got a Renegade based on Sip's endorsement. Great holster, all day comfort and a hold down strap that actually makes sense for ankle carry. I carry a scandium j-frame in mine 3 days a week, 14+ hours per day, never a problem.

The Renegade and the Galco Ankle Glove are the two that are always recommended. I have a Renegade but hardly ever use it. For a cop that sits in a car a lot, a good ankle rig with a Centennial should be EDC.

I've tried lots of nylon ankle holsters over the years, including Renegade, Uncle Mike's, DeSantis and one Bianchi, and none of them compare to the Galco Ankle Glove I recently acquired. The Ankle Glove does not twist around and is more comfortable and wearable with a bigger/heavier gun than nylons with a lighter gun. I should have spent the money years ago.

Since both of these have been mentioned I thought, what the heck, let's
provide a "visual" for those who may come across this thread during a search.

My, hands down, favorite is the Galco but it is limited to stocks that
are open on the back-strap, whereas the Renegade works with all types,
open or closed, since the retention strap goes behind the trigger guard.

To be fair, the main thing that I don't like about the Renegade is due to the type
of footwear I use it with, leather boots about the same height as "high top" tennis
shoes. The extra leather below the barrel on the Renegade's holster rubs on
the leather top of my boot & makes a leather on leather creakin' sound.

On the Galco, not only do I not get the "creak," but the little extra on the
neoprene that's in line with the barrel (downward contour) slips into the
top of my boot and helps keep things secured in a positive location.

With that said, both are excellent choices with the
Cozy Partner being more versatile than the Ankle Glove.

I have been using a Galco Ankle Glove for J Frames for the past twenty years more or less...I don't bother with the calf strap. I wear mine in reverse grip position on the inside of my right ankle. I am right handed. I like the easy access when seated. I started using an ankle rig with J Frames for BUG duty when working my first LEO job in 1978. I believe I had a Bianchi back then. These days I mostly carry a 337 AirLite in the Ankle Glove...

Another vote for the Galco. Extremely comfortable, so much so that you can often forget you are wearing something on your ankle.

I don't wear an ankle rig while working (also a LEO), because I wear high boots. For duty use, I carry my 642 in a vest holster. However, for off-duty or when in plain clothes, I wear the 642 as a BUG in the Galco.

I like the Galco so much, that come January when my new clothing & equipment allowance kicks in, I plan on ordering one for my Glock 26.

I've been carrying a Renegade rig on duty with a BUG for at least the last 12 years, maybe a bit more. Very comfortable, but they will wear out. I just bought another one this month.

I keep hearing great things about the Galco ankle glove also - may have to check it out. It looks very comfortable and well made.

I agree. Plus it fits over my jump boots and even over my Justin Ropers without the extension piece that they sell for boots. I wear a Glock 27 everyday for over 2 years in it. It looks new still.
