I visited a LGS that I normally do not frequent due to the distance from my house. I also rarely go that way for anything else so I don't get to see what they offer. They usually have a few S&W used M19, M36's. They also carry few new J frames and whatever distributors deliver. Anyhow, they had the typical used ones and a 686 plus Talo 3" and a 639 Talo 3". Never seen these wheelies in person and was surprised to see them at a small LGS in rural So IL. I really liked both but know I couldn't buy either. I mentioned it to my wife and that was that. Until, fast forward to today. I got a call from the LGS and congratulated me for being a new owner of a S&W 686 plus Talo! I asked the guy on the other line if this was a joke or a prank call. He told me no and the gun was paid in full, ready for pick up on Monday and he said Happy Anniversary!
I called my wife to thank her and let her know that I love her and appreciate her thinking of me. I later found out that she had drive the distance to decide between the 686 and 629 and to pay for it. Because of that she had to reschedule her physical therapy treatment.
I am very grateful to have married a wonderful woman. We are not wealthy people but we try to take care of each other. Last month I took her to St Louis and she picked out a nice purse for our anniversary. I know she was thankful for that as she returned the favor. Not that I got a gun that's a keeper...my wife is the real keeper. Thanks for letting me share this wonderful experience.
