I am looking at a 29-2 at an estate sale and looks to be in very nice condition. It has a 6 1/2" barrel and comes in presentation box with green felt lining. Also, tools included. Serial number is N132XXX. The sale is out of state and I can only see a few pics that are posted.

Most presentation boxes I've seen have blue felt. Did they also come in green? Not sure how that would affect the value if it had been changed.

It appears to have a pinned barrel and I've asked for clarification on that. Pics are not that good. I've also asked for clarification on the correct grips, if I can determine the age.

Any idea as to age? I see the values all across the board, from $1000-2500. Any idea on that would be greatly appreciated as well.

A Model 29-2 with a serial number in the N132000 range would have shipped in 1974. It would be pinned and recessed. Model 29s were only shipped in cases with liners covered in blue material of various kinds depending on the age. Correct stocks are targets (no diamonds) made of Goncalo alves.

Price depends on condition and originality of the stocks, case, etc.

One in mint condition with the correct case and accessories would be in the $2000 range.

Thanks, Bill. The grips appear to be correct with the year you advised. They are the "football" grips. Being that the box has green felt lining, would that affect value?

Tact...The material covering the inserts in presentation cases dating from 1969 through 1974 deteriorated rapidly and must be replaced. Many collectors use blue cloth, and I have seen a couple where red cloth was used. Green is an acceptable alternative, and I doubt if it would affect value much.
