Was looking for a tablet...No phone capability.Just wanted something a little bigger than the smartphone to browse the internet or send texts while making dinner or watching TV.

BestBuy had the Galaxy Tab4 with an 8" screen with WiFi.I asked the salesperson if I could send texts on it because I saw the Verizon Messaging App on it.He said that it would do it.Unfortunately this store was out of stock but another store nearby had them available.

Went to the other store and told the person what I wanted and also explained what the other salesperson said.I guess I was verifying their expertise in the products they sell. This second person said I couldn't text on the tablet I wanted without a third party app installed. When I questioned him again about why I couldn't use the Verizon app he directed me to a Samsung Rep who just happened to be in the store.

The Rep said that there was a similar model to what I wanted but it required a 2yr contract with Verizon and cost $10 a month extra on my Verizon account.I didn't want the extra costs so I went with the original tablet I looked at and settled on getting a third party app.

On my way home I stopped at the first BestBuy to tell the salesperson what I was told by the Samsung rep at the other store and he just laughed. He said he was sure it would work with Verizon and to try it when I got home.

I tried it and it works! I can send and receive the same texts on both my smartphone and tablet without a third party app.

I wanted to go back to the second store to inform them of their misinformation so other customers might get the same satisfaction as I did.It proves that whether you are in a Big Box store or here on the forum you shouldn't necessarily accept one person's opinion.Be persistent and don't be afraid to ask as many questions as it takes to make sure you are understood.
