Another broken 625-10 for sale.

Do not worry too much. The 625s in question are only the pug nosed -10s and -11s. These two variants utilize Scandium alloy frames.

25 is carbon steel frame
625 is stainless frame
325 is scandium frame

so are these 'pugs' actually 625s or 325s?
 
If you could get that cheap, S&W would probably send the owner a new gun. Obviously, a different model. They did for me on a used 1982 Model 10 I bought with a cracked frame. May or may not be worth the hassle.
 
I had the same problem with a 725 PD I purchased for retirement from LE. Cracked in the same spot and I can say it was not abused. I refuse to buy a S&W scandium because of it.
They did make it good with a 4" 635 JM and I'm happy with it.
