I had to let these go, But I have been watching for a couple of weeks. I’m keeping an eye on the general value Etc..
57 with great cokes and just a little it seems on the barrel
Nice 25-5 4” Nickel
25-5 6” blue.. under $1k..
All on my list.. I’ll be pacing myself this year.
They are out there, and they will come up For sale again.

There are still bargains to be had, just have to be in the right place at the right time and the "wrong" person has to stay away.

I would not have been biding too long on that magnificent 57. Those early 41 Magnums shipped with cokes don't show up very often. Kinda' like a 1956 Telecaster.

Yes. For old Teles and Martins there are maybe a dozen guitar stores around the country that’ll have a line in where one might be.
Those guys like George Gruhn have their ear to the ground with that stuff.
With Guns I’d imagine they’d be a little less scarce because guns are not quite so niche, but then again, more collectors will be hoarding them, but also trading them.
They are out there and they’ll come up.
$1325?? For anything with cokes in decent condition seems to be a great price from what I have seen in the mere year I’ve been doing this.

I was watching the nickel 25. That said, my gun fund is dry for the next few months, so I am only looking.

It was a 93% according to the description. Lovely stocks.
Said it was a little cloudy in places, but I have a 4” 29-2 in nickel that had a little cloudiness that Flitzed right out.
Came up great.
A Nickel 25-5 in 4” and 8” are still on my list, as well as a 25-5 6” blue. There are a few up there, but they are way overpriced. In my opinion, at least from what I have been seeing them go for..

just a general question on big box auction buys

I too watch the big box auctions, more so to find out what the latest AVERAGE hammer price is on particular guns that equal mine in condition and appeal.

However I do not bid or buy from the big box ones because as I can see, the hammer price is not the price one pays. There are fees up the wazoo, along with taxes, shipping, "buyers premium" and all sorts of ad valorem riders.

So what does the "real" price become? I have heard on this Forum, and other gun boards I visit that it can range from 17% to 30% of hammer price, making that $1325 Model 57 OTD at possibly $1723 (could still be a great find with the cokes).

What then is the great attraction to the big box guys???? The fact that there you see it...the one you've been chasing...right in front of your eyes...only a click away from adding to your credit card debt load?

Maybe I am from the long gone school of local LGS, estate sales, local pawn places......cash is king type transactions.

OK enough ramble...probably answered my own question, but still will buy from this Forum, or locally for the rest of my days.

Varies based on the auction company, the application used, your sales tax, shipping/insurance.

I buy at the RIA auctions occasionally and add 27.5% to my bid; 17.5 for buyers premium, 8.25% for sales tax (which also applies to the buyers premium). It would be 1% more if you use their on line bidding app, and percent or more if you use proxy bid or other third party apps. I pickup from their location so no shipping but often another $100 or so if you have the item shipped/insured.

Speaking of guitars for a moment, my old guitar player, Dave Hussong, owner of Fretwares, clowns around at his booth at the Dallas Guitar Show back in the 90's. Dave did a lot of trading with Gruhn back in the day. Dave also wrote for Guitar Player magazine. Vintage Tele hiding on the left. Second photo, if you can see it, has a nice old Tele hanging up. Music store in Dayton, OH 1970's

That $1325 on Gunbroker will likely be around $1500 - $1550. Shipping can vary. Taxes per state.
I usually go to the post office and get money orders which firstly saves me the 3% CC fee and also means I can use cash from playing music on the road.
