Another hobby

I retired from cutting firewood but still have a few chainsaws. I started collecting Husqvarna chainsaws.

I was thinking for home protection a 75cc saw with a 28” bar along side the bed?

Sounds good but if you can get a 21'' bar on your weapon it should go a lot faster, cut faster, make more noise and should penetrate any Kevlar underwear your burglar might have on.

If you wear..

If you wear a leather mask nobody will come near the place!:eek::eek:

This kinda reminds me of 'Motel Hell' where the guy that cooked people into sausage had a chainsaw duel with his brother at the end. He got a chain bar in the gut, but his last dying words were:

"I've lived a lie all my life.........I DID use preservatives...ugh.":D

What started all this my son has been cutting the dead falls on my land in vt. His Poulan wild thing is 20-25 years old. The boy needs a better chainsaw. I purchased him a new husky rancher 460 with a 24” bar.. the boy couldn’t thank me enough.
Then I started looking at older huskys I once had. I found a mint 266SE.
Today I found a 372 needs work. The 372xp is a $1,000 saw new.

Anybody that gets murdered by a guy with a chain saw wanted to die. Ought to get a good head start while he's trying to get it started and he certainly can't sneak up on you while it's running.

Does anyone really need a chainsaw? Does anyone really need those high-capacity semi-automatic chainsaws? Shouldn't we have some common sense laws regulating chainsaws (registration, licensing, waiting periods, background checks)? Are we talking about military-style chainsaws, made for war rather than made for chores? How many chains do you keep on hand for your chainsaws? Do your neighbors know that you have chainsaws? Is it really easier to juggle chainsaws while they are running, or should you shut them off first?

"HUSKIES" all the way. I've done LOTS of sawing over 40 years living in the country. The only saw I've ever owned ( and had no reason to try another brand) is Husqvarna. Now at my age I've had to drop down to a 16" for a lighter saw, and use a Model 435, which may be light enough to throw at an intruder ;):D

You better not be in New Jersey with a 75 cc saw. Law enforcement and the courts take our high capacity chain saw ban very seriously. But if you keep it in a locked trunk while passing through you can rely on CHOPA.

You don't have brawls around you with chainsaws?

Chain saw-wielding brawlers clash in Big Sandy

You can carry a gun, concealed or open in Big Sandy, but you no longer welcome when packing a chain saw

Having seen some rather amazing things on or near a reservation, often alcohol related, the only thing that really amazes me is that nobody pulled a gun.

What's the best oil for a 28" chain and where are the oiling points?

I run regular bar and chain oil with the oil adjustment turned up on the longer bars. I’m running 28” & 32” bars on my 575xp & 385xp huskys. I look to see if there’s a tad of excess oil on the bar, don’t forget to clean the groove out in the bar too. I put a tad of grease in the clutch bearing and bar sprocket too. Just one pump of the needle grease gun.

Have 3 Husks of various sizes. Lately have been playing with a silenced version, a battery runner. Pull the trigger and it runs, 14 inch bar, great for thinning out small trees and quiet.
