Another New 45 Shield

Well color me impressed. Just took my new 45 Shield to the range and put 200 rounds through her. Other than two mag drops early on with the 6 rounders,(could have been my fault), she ran flawless, not a hiccup. Not too bad of a recoil and very accurate.
I'm a die hard revolver guy and this is my first plastic gun, but I enjoyed the heck out of it. Looks like I may be venturing to the dark side.

Plastic is the way to go if you carry. You'll appreciate the weight. Gives you a chance to polish those revolvers and keep 'em nice so they can grow in value.

It is a nice gun, I have shot only 50 flawless rnds through, and waiting for 500 more heading on my way for more happy range time.

Congrats to everyone with a new Shield 45
Mine hit DFW Airport at noon today.
Scheduled for my FFL tomorrow.
With luck I'll be able to run some rounds though it this weekend.

I too am a revolver guy at heart but this Shield 45 has given me a new tool to enjoy in a semi-auto. The performance far exceeds the dollars spent and I have truly enjoyed shooting mine more like an indoor target pistol and for the short barrel and sighting radius it shoots very well!

It doesn't take much to refine the trigger if you feel the need, some simple polishing will get rid of the grit or unevenness. Have fun, and remember it's only 'half plastic' LOL

Difficulty loading mag

Is it just me, or is the spring in the 6+1 and 7+1 mags of the new Shield 45 extremely strong? I can barely load 3 rounds in each of them. Any suggestions? I have not had this problem with any other hand gun I've owned. Thanks!

Many have that problem with Shield mags, I bought a mag loader, think it's called Uplula, problem solved.

They are a bit stiff when new, but they will loosen up after a few cycles, let them loaded for a while that helps too. The uplula is a great tool to have specially when you are at the range and have to load a couple of hundred rounds.

Love this...It happens a lot from people who say they would never consider a shield until they get one in their hands and fire it. You have been assimilated.

My Shield 45 magazines are a little stiff but I honestly don't find them difficult to load. The six or the seven rounder.

Definitely get an Uplula if you're having problems loading your magazines. And get one even if you're not having problems. Loading is so much quicker and easier.

However, if you think loading your Shield .45 magazines is difficult, wait until you try to reassemble your 7-rounders after cleaning. You'll get so frustrated, you'll forget about your loading problems entirely!
