I was plundering around in one of my safe's tonight, looking for a gun to trade and found a Victory Model that I had forgotten about. It is V613893,on the butt. There is a hole for the lanyard ring but no ring. It has no other markings. It is stamped .38 S&W Special. The Parkerized finish is very good. I can't get the grips off yet, because someone "screwed up" the grip screw. It's only problem is that it is missing the top frame screw on the right side. Since my father carried one of these on the USS Atlanta, light cruiser, in WW!!, I am seeking more info.. By the way, where can I find a side plate screw?

There's a S&W Victory Model top side plate screw on Ebay now. Search S&W Victory screws. seller is gparts. ed.

Could be S&W has one you can use.

The screw will likely be blued not Parkerized but should fit, were used in the "Classic" models. Give Customer Service a call @ 1-800-331-0852 and see if they can help.

I don't know this for sure, but I have read that the screw thread size changed right after WWII, so there may be an interchangeability issue.

Medxam,

While you have it out, could you check and see if there are any other markings or stampings on the butt?

I'm guessing it's also marked US Property on the top?

Thanks!
