And yes it is a little dark/late in the evening. This is of course Big Sky Country up near Red Lodge Montana on the ranch she manages. You can see a few miles in this pic...and yes...it was with her Samsung S-10 Note. The gal sure does love what she does. Granddaughter has been out helping brand calves last two days. Hard work.

Coming from the Big Horn Basin, I've spent a lot of Quality Time in the Red Lodge area. Skiing, hiking, hunting just over the line in Wyoming. My son and daughter both lived at Cooke City for a couple of years too. I love that whole country. Been in Laramie for 24 years now but we're moving to Sheridan next week. I feel almost like I'm going back home again. Can't wait to get back into that Big Horn Mountains country!

Heck I can see that far in Pennsylvania.......... if it wasn't for the trees!

Guess that's why it's called "Penn's Woods"!

:D

There are vistas in Pa. where you can see three states..... one's not far from the lake ...... the top of the ridge is 2400 ft and it drops off about 1400 in a half mile....... you can see Pa, Maryland and W Va,

Beautiful picture Skeet. Beautiful state too. I lived in Montana for four
years 1957-1961 and enjoyed (almost) every minute. Of course I was
young enough to hunt, fish, and chase girls. Finally caught one. (Girl I
mean).

Spending a few days in Montana for Fourth of July visiting friends. Going to start looking at property for retirement. Probably in the western part of the state -- more trees. Although this almost makes me want to move to Billings: [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UVPQyNYXn0[/ame]

After some of the things I have seen in the past week, that photo is a sight for sore eyes with it's peace and tranquility.

Just curious is there a place like in "The Virginian" called Medicine Bow? Or was it just fictious to start with.

Looks like she is close to Roscoe. Very pretty country that is priced to high for most natives. What cattle do they raise?

Starting out.. There is a town called Medicine Bow here in Wy. Prob under 350 people . She isn't far from Roscoe. She has a young'un goes to the school in Luther. One of the neatest schools in the state. The cattle(angus) they raise are someone else's and not her full responsibilities. She is essentially a caretaker. Although she is out and about most every day..on a horse quite often. Granddaughter(22) is working on a neighbors ranch and loves the outdoors. She is a hardnosed gal too. Her real job is as a waitress/bartender at the Pollard Hotel in Red Lodge. The ranch is almost 30 miles to Red Lodge. Daughter is also a farrier...and a good one. That IS some pretty country up there. course I love prairie country and living close to mountains. I live at the top of the Big Horn Basin. The Prior mountains are across from the house...30 or so miles. You know..a chip shot away. But where she lives or where I do...social distancing is no problem. Last night it was 46 here. Gonna be 90 today. with about 10% humidity. Gets cold in all this country.. But the average is almost identical to where I came from the Eastern Shore of Md...with a lot less humidity and one heck of a lot less rain..under 5 inches a year as opposed to over 50 inches in Md. But almost very place has it's good points...and bad ones. As far as seeing a long way. Going to Powell(18 miles from one little hill I can see more than 200 miles south to north.and 80 miles across the basin from the Big Horns to the Beartooths. Hard to not like that. But back east I could see a right good way(20 miles) on a good clear day. Especially when I was fishing off the coast

Yes, there is a little town about 60 miles northwest of Laramie on the UP railroad called Medicine Bow. Population is about 400 people. There is an old hotel there called The Virginian, and it is the town where the Owen Wister novel was set. The town has been there since the Union Pacific built through the area in about 1867.

Fine photo! Your daughter sounds like quite a gal.

My part of our wonderful state isn't that green, ever.

Congrats on your move, Wyo. I've lived in Laramie and loved it, but Sheridan is more Wyoming and far less political. Enjoy.
