I KNOW WE LIVE IN A WORLD OF PLASTIC AND ELECTRONICS, BUT - NO CASH??

At one time, White Castle and Frisch's restaurants were cash only...
At White Castle, one had to deposit 5 cents to use the 'facilities'.

Purchasing a spare tire for a car without one? Don't forget to get a jack and lug wrench. They don't have them either. Another source of 'revenue' for the dealer or aftermarket business.

How many guns and what kind in how short of time period?

What makes you so sure it was the credit card company that ratted him out? I hope you aren’t one of those that believes the FBI is totally destroying the Instant Background Checks that are called in.

I have a friend that buys guns from private sellers and pays cash for them so the Government doesn’t know he is a gun owner. Except he was a licensed armed security officer that was involved in two shootings and buys accessories, primers and gun powder using…

Yup the credit card.

The moral of your story is space out firearm purchases paid for by credit card over a longer period of time.

I am sure because the LEO's told me that. The county deputies were not as quite close mouthed as the federales. How many guns or how much ammo I do not know as it was none of my business same as it is none of the credit card companies business nor law enforcement. The neighbor also told me the same thing a couple days later. So I take that as verified information.
In a perfect world it should not matter but authoritative overreach is a very real thing and getting worse.

It's called "Operation Chokepoint" and it dates back to the Obama Administration. The DOJ pressured banks and credit card companies to drop gun dealer customers and to rat out private parties engaged in "suspicious behavior".

Once they enact CBDC you won't be able to get around this with cash purchases. You'll need foreign currency or barter.

"Paul, you're just paranoid" Probably.
But for your consideration:
"Project Cedar", the NY Fed's pilot program investigating blockchain based currency.
"Project Hamilton", The Boston Fed teams up with MIT to research CBDC.
The Biden Administration has already issued Executive Orders laying the groundwork for CBDC.
I could posts dozens of examples. Several other countries have likewise made moves toward adopting CBDC including the EU and UK. It's right around the corner, folks.

I hope you are not using that that Credit Card Institution.

You can perform a public service by posting the name of the company that ratted your neighbor out.

I think most of the younger generation just assume they will always be able to get to a cash machine in an emergency where they absolutely have to get some cash.
Not necessarily a valid assumption, but one that they have all grown up with.

It's very sobering and easy to get caught up in the concern for the future calamities that are in store for those in this world, especially for those of us who hold to biblical and constitutional values that see these happenings as 'signs' in the progression towards the culmination of what we are persuaded of by our tradition, upbringing, education, and not the least of which, our faith.

Keeping within the 'lane lines' of what is appropriate and allowable for discussion, suffice to say there are varying views on these things and while I am confident and content in my beliefs and persuaded of the rightness of such, all are indeed free to believe as they will and I do not "beat anyone over the head" with my views. So take the following comments in that light.

These things must come to pass and how one believes and whether or not it is cause for personal alarm to them depends on those beliefs or lack thereof. I daily/weekly remind myself that this world is not my home and I do my best not to get twisted up over these things. I believe that a lot of the things we discuss on this forum with concern are coming, in the form of less freedom, more oppression, onerous laws and lawlessness as a whole.

In the mean time, I am a realist and not persuaded of a date/time/season that I can predict or know with any certainty when these things will come to pass and will continue to fight the good fight to make the nation the ideal that I believe the founders envisioned with the freedoms and liberties they sacrificed so dearly to provide to us. I, for one, will not rollover and let those whose vision for our society is so starkly different that it threatens my way of life and very existence to make that vision a reality.

The world and everything in it, including us, has been dying since birth and the wise live with that knowledge, conduct their time here with that in mind and make the best of the unknown amount of time we're allotted. The fearful, unrealistic and vain strain and strive to somehow change/alter/delay that timeline and inevitable circumstance, whether through ignorance, fear, dread or hubris, thinking they can actually ultimately prevail - but the outcome remains the same.

One world government ? Inevitable. Cashless society ? Very probable. Will I resist such things while I'm able ? ABSOLUTELY . . . .

This thread has come a long way from, girl in big city...flat tire...cashless society. Often wonder with younger people using plastic if they grasp the concept of what things cost. What I mean is for a great majority of us there was only so much money in the pocket to spend at the store and sometimes we had to prioritize what was necessary and what could wait until we had some OT money at hand, hate to use the phrase "extra money", because it is one thing i never have. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the vendor or seller usually has to pay a transaction fee when we the purchaser use a cc, now maybe for the big box stores no problem but for the smaller retailers imagine it is something that is real and at times painful. Only one getting a cut of the cash transaction the tax cousins.

When my walking around money drops to 200, I bring it back up to 400. Just doing my part to lower CC processing fees that get passed onto EVERBODY...not that the CC users even care that they are driving up cost for EVERYBODY.

If we are forced into a digital currency every penny you spend will be more closely monitored by the powers. Even worse than now. Don't think that is not true. Just before new years my next door neighbor was visited by 7 car loads of law enforcement including homeland security for the simple reason his credit card company reported him to homeland security because in their opinion he had purchased to many guns and to much ammo. I never noticed the quantity qualifier on the second amendment.
No rumor about this I saw it and talked to these "public servants" while engaged in this service.

Obviously he don't use the same bank as me.:D

Obviously I do not use the same bank or credit cards as him.

I use ATMs to get cash when I want it. Here it is pretty safe. Haven't heard of an armed robbery here since I got here in 2009. When I am out of town I pick visible public ones in busy areas. Auto accessible are also pretty good.

But, the when I was working a job once in a bad area and said something was said being nervous about wandering around in the local area, a local guy said, you ain't got much to worry about there are lots of people way smaller and safer to rob.

Don't be an idiot, don't look like a victim, have a 32 gun in your pocket or 45 on your belt.

I miss the days if I had a $20 in my wallet, carton of smokes and a full tank of gas...I thought I was rich.

I usually keep between $60 to maybe $120 on me. I use my Visa card a lot because the bank pays me to use their money. Only time I ever use my debit card is to take money out of my banks drive up ATM.

If I'm traveling I'll have around $500 in 20's in case my Visa got compromised somehow. My folks bank locked their card one year while traveling. I guess it was a red flag that purchases were being made in different states.

Top post of the new year. 👍

Once while I was having my truck serviced I rented a car and took my wife out to dinner. After driving a few miles I got a flat and called the rental agency and they said they would send someone right over to fix it. After sitting there about 20 minutes I was getting really hungry and called the rental car company again and asked them how much longer? She said "only about 45 more minutes". I said "tell him not to bother coming. I'll change the flat myself". About 8 minutes later I was on my way to getting some food in my belly. After that I decided I would never be dependent on someone else changing a flat for me and do them all myself and taught my daughters how to change flats if they ever need to.

Cash will be phased out in 2 to 4 years.
The government wants to control what you can buy, and how much money you get for everything so that it is easier to make you pay taxes on it all.

So very true. Cash can NOT be tracked but electronic transactions can be easily followed. When using credit cards or ATMs, Big brother will know how much you are spending and to whom you are spending your money.

I use USPS MO when ever I send money for firearms. I use cash to purchase the MOs and there is no record of who purchased the MO if you leave that information blank on the MO form.

...What makes you so sure it was the credit card company that ratted him out?...

Every merchant that accepts credit/debit cards is assigned a "merchant category code" (MCC) that describes what type of business it is. Historically, gun stores have been classified as "Sporting Goods Stores" (5941). That has always functioned perfectly fine. But in recent years, anti-gun advocates began claiming that gun stores need their own code.

This code allows Suspicious Activity Reports to be filed for gun transactions. Unlike most financial reporting, it is intended for predictive policing, much like red flag laws. As a bonus, it will probably choke off financial options for gun stores and their customers, much like the disgraced Operation Chokepoint. The gun community should be concerned about de-banking, and even more concerned about the filing of Suspicious Activity Reports with federal authorities.
