Read the post about the poorly worded gun policy sign and it made me think about the one that is hanging on the wall at a local grocery store. It says that if you buy a meal there and are not 100% satisfied, simply return it for a full refund. Now I'm thinkin that if you have a meal there is only two different ways to return it, both seem inappropriate to me. But what do I know. Man I can just see their faces.
Peace,

Not a sign really, but a button.

Where I used to work we had a computer control room that was locked at all times. You had to be given access to the room. Just outside the door was a big red button with a cover over it. There was a sign that said "DO NOT PUSH."

During training we were told that if you pushed that button it would not only shut down the area, but would "dump" the computer memory and wipe the control tapes clean.

I asked the question: "Under what circumstances would you want to use that, short of Russian troops fighting their way up the stairs?" I never got an answer other than "We don't know."

Also, right next to the red button was a doorbell, to get access into the room. You guessed it. The system did indeed work as was proven twice. Once during a family visitation when an eight year old girl pushed it, and another time when a construction worker pushed it after being told "ring the bell, they'll let you in." Oh BOY! Did they.

A company I had to visit on a regular basis had a large water tank next to the building I would visit. On the side of the tank was a sign, "Well Water" and after one visit I couldn't help my self but I added in chalk below the sign, the following: "Sorry to hear you were sick and glad you are feeling better." My note was still there for several months till the rain washed it away.

When we were first building punch/laser machines where I worked, an engineer posted a very professional looking sign

Do Not Look into Laser with Remaining Eye

Took a little while before management spotted it; thought it a little TMI.

Why would they put a "panic" button next to a door bell outside the room? I can understand it because of a locked room but exposed to mischief like the kid and a dumb worker.

Why not put it out of the way like higher up and away from the door bell?

I think I'll pass.

There is a pharmacy chain named Ideal Drugs. They have changed the signs to Ideal Pharmacy for obvious reasons, but for many years it was pretty funny.
